Kate sat at a table with Jacob and the rest of the Quileutes that came to the wedding. They were all chatting together and laughing at each other. For once, they weren't worried about anything. They were relaxed, young, and free.

"So how's Rachel settling in?" Kate asked Billy.

Billy smiled but groaned at the same time. Beside her, Seth, Jacob, and Sue all let out hearty laughs. Kate looked at them confused.

"What aren't you telling me?"

Seth leaned over to her, "Paul imprinted on Rachel this morning."

Kate gasped and spun around to look at Jacob and Billy, "And you didn't tell me?"

Jacob raised his hands in defense still shaking laughing, "It only happened right before left. Rachel went down to the beach and well, you know how Paul likes to run on the beach and bam! Imprint."

"No fucking way."

"Language," Sue chastised gently.

Kate threw her an apologetic grin before turning back to Billy and Jacob.

"And how do you feel about this?"

Jacob laughed, "Well now he can't give us crap anymore. I just wish it wasn't my sister."

Billy smiled, "We had to explain everything to Rachel when she got back to the house. She was unsure at first but now, she's decided to stay."

"Stay?" she asked not sure what Billy means by that.

"She wants to stay in La Push and try to work things out with Paul."

Despite whatever Billy was saying, Kate knew that he was happy to have his middle child back in town and in his life. Even if he had to deal with Paul eating all of their food every day for the rest of their lives, Billy would be happy to let him do it. Kate's heart swelled at the thought of Billy being happy. The man deserved it more than anyone else she knew. She almost started crying right then and there.

"Billy, that's so exciting! You have one of your babies back."

Jacob grumbled from next to her, "Yeah but now I have to deal with Paul all the time from now on."

Kate smacked him in the arm, "Oh, shut up. You love having your sister back and you know it."

If anyone asked Kate her opinion, the speeches were the best part of the entire wedding reception, besides the never ended bottles of champagne. When Emmett stood up the begin his speech, Kate couldn't help but snicker to herself at what was about to unfold.

"Excuse me. Is this on? Hello? Umm, I'd like to propose a toast. To my new sister. Bella, I hope you've gotten enough sleep these last 18 years. 'Cause you won't be getting any more for a while," Emmett grinned cheekily.

The crowds reception was tense and awkward but the supernatural members of the crowd all chuckled to themselves knowing what Emmett really meant. Kate actually snorted into her champagne flute causing it to fly up her nose while in turn made Jacob and Seth laugh which caused Renee to nonverbally scold her daughter from the Bride and Groom's table.

As the speeches continued, they just kept getting more and more entertaining for Kate to listen to. She was sure that she was the only one enjoying them this much. When Jessica stood up, she had to stop herself from laughing immediately. She knew Jessica well enough to know how this was going to go.

"Well, Bella was just like everybody else, totally mesmerized by Edward. Or "The Hair," as I call him. And then, suddenly, Edward is all about Bella. Even though she's not the captain of the volleyball team."

A few members of the audience chuckled along with Jessica while Kate was covering her mouth with her hand to stop herself from busting out laughing. Kate remembered the jealous conversation from the first day she met Jessica making this situation even funnier.

"I'm just kidding. I'm just kidding. Or the president of the student council."

Alice went next and Kate took another sip of champagne to get through it.

"Now that you're my sister, you'll have to get over your aversion to fashion. Skirts, heels, handbags..."

If Kate was being honest with herself, she tuned out the rest of the speech and began to eat some of the horderves that were on her plate. When her father stood up she once again began to smile being on the verge of laughter.

"Edward will be a good husband. I know this because I'm a cop. I know things. Like how to hunt somebody to the ends of the Earth. And I know how to use a gun."

Throughout the duration of the speech, Kate's table was almost beside themselves with laughter having known Charlie the longest and knowing that what he was saying was true. He would hunt down Edward. The problem was, as they all knew, he was a vampire and was bulletproof.

When her mother stood up and started singing the lullaby that she used to sing when she and Bella were little, Kate had to hide her face into Jacob's shoulder from embarrassment.

"Go to sleep, my love. Go to sleep. When you wake you'll see me."

Esme's toast was rather sweet, "I'd like to thank Renée and Charlie for bringing such a wonderful person into the world and into our lives. We will cherish and protect her forever."

But when it was Edward's turn, Kate payed very close attention wanting to see what her new brother-in-law had to say.

"It's an extraordinary thing to meet someone who you can bare your soul to. And who will accept you for what you are."

Kate turned her head to the right and looked at Jacob to find him already looking at her. The emotion in his eyes was so deep and real. She knew she completely understood what Edward was talking about. She had it with Jacob. He was the one person she didn't have to hide with. She could be goofy, and loud, and vulnerable and he would love and support her no matter what.

She thought it was the imprint but now she was thinking it went further than that. It wasn't magic that brought the two of them together, it was the universe itself. Before he turned into a werewolf, she knew. Something in her gut was telling her that he was the one for her. She could imagine her life without him.

Jacob's hand reached our for hers under the table and he stroked his thumb over the back of her hand. He gave her a soft smile and whispered, "I love you to her" and she whispered them back, albeit with a blush rising up her cheeks.

Edward continued, "I've been waiting, what seems like a very long time, to get beyond what I am. And with Bella, I feel like I can finally begin. So I'd like to propose a toast to my beautiful bride. No measure of time with you will be long enough. But let's start with forever."
