Eradicate ?Jacob Black [The Final Chapter] (Discontinued)

The worst part of this whole situation was waiting. Most of the time, they just stood around waiting for Bella to cry out in pain from yet another broken bone. There was this tenseness from being cooped up and all of the vampires were hungry, though none of them said anything about it.

Bella tried not to say anything either. She was miserable and everyone knew it but she refused to admit it. She was battered and bruised but never complained, not once. Her body temperature fluctuated like crazy. One second her skin would feel like ice, and the next, she'd be sweating and feeling like she was feverish.

When she was cold, Jacob would more often than not come inside and allow her to curl up next to him. His abnormally high body temperature was a comfort to Bella. That combined with being next to her best friend, started to make her look better in these moments.

It was one of these times that caused Kate to be completely grossed out.

Bella had leaned over on the couch to gag into a bucket. She couldn't keep any food down if she ate, even at all.

"We need to find a way to get some food in her system," Esme announced.

Alice shook her head, "If I could only see the fetus..."

"The baby," Rosalie interrupted.

Her sister ignored her and continued, "...I could figure out what it want's.

Kate sat in an armchair next to Emmett with her arms crossed, her body folded into itself. She didn't like this conversation anymore than she liked seeing her sister's battered and bruised body.

Edward's head snapped up to look at Jacob, "Think you might be right."

Kate sat up a little straighter, "Right about what?"

"Jacob just had an idea."

Jacob snorted, "It wasn't an idea, it was a snide comment. And stay out of my head."

Carlisle asked, "What were you thinking?"

"That it's probably looking for someone to sink it's teeth into."

"He's thirsty," Bella said.

Next to Kate, Emmett said, "I know the feeling," causing the siren to hit him on the shoulder hard enough for him to wince.

"If it's craving, it's not going to want animal blood," Edward said.

Carlisle nodded, "I have some O negative set aside for Bella," and the doctor walked off to go get it.

The effect on the vampires was immediate. Jasper's head snapped up and he looked ravenous. Alice seemed to notice this too and took his hand and led him outside. Next to her, Emmett patted her on the thigh as he stood up and he too left.

When Carlisle came back, Jacob realized what was happening, "You're going to make her drink that?"

"It's the fastest way to test the theory," Carlisle responded.

Edward looked at Bella, "Only if you're comfortable with it." 

"I'll try anything," she responded desperately.

Jacob scooted as far away from Bella as he possibly could, "I think I'm going to be sick."

Kate grimaced, "You're not the only one."

Edward came over to Bella with a new cup full of blood. This one was styrofoam and it made the dark liquid impossible to see.

"This might make it a little easier to take," he told Bella.

It might have just been nothing, but Kate could have sworn an almost feral look crossed Bella's face when she smelled the blood. She took the cup from Edwards hands and gingerly took a sip. The thick blood slowly made its way up the straw causing acid to rise up in Kate's throat as she watched it pass Bella's lips. Everyone watched with bated breath. When Bella pulled the straw away from her mouth, the red stain on her lips made Kate want to throw up.

Bella took a breath, "Tastes...good."

She went back for more blood and she took a strong pull from the straw. Jacob couldn't take it anymore and walked outside for some fresh air. Kate glanced at him as he passed but she stayed watching over her sister.

Carlisle sat down next to Bella and pressed his fingers to her wrist.

"Your pulse is already getting stronger," Carlisle announced with a smile.

All of the vampires in the room began to smile. Kate allowed herself a small one but it quickly fell from her face. She watched as Bella drank from the glass and Kate couldn't help but picture Bella, as a vampire, draining the life out of a person. Even worse, she pictured whatever thing was inside Bella doing that to someone.

Kate stood to go outside and speak with Jacob but saw him talking to Alice. She turned and went out the front door and sat down on the steps. It seemed like this was a permanent spot for Kate these past few days.
