Eradicate ?Jacob Black [The Final Chapter] (Discontinued)

The next evening, after much of the same troubles with Bella, Jacob was to speak with Sam's pack. The plan was to distract them so that Carlisle, Esme, and Emmett could go and get blood for Bella for when she delivered the fetus. 

Kate stood pacing and biting her nails all evening. Bella and Edward had been talking but she ignored everything they were saying. The thing in Bella was the last thing on her mind right now. She was worried about Jacob but he was adamant that she stay inside with Bella.

"I want to go with you," she told him.

"No," he snapped, "I'm not letting you anywhere near them until this is all over."

She scoffed, "Let me?"

A pained look crossed his face, "You know that's not what I meant." He sighed and took her hands in his, "They may not be able to hurt you but then can still hurt Bella. Listen, if this goes badly, you need to be with her."

"If this goes badly, I need to be with you."

"Kate, baby, I couldn't live with myself if anything happened to you. And if any of them hurt you, even on accident, I know I wouldn't be able to stop myself. I couldn't stop myself from killing whoever did it. I don't want that and neither do you."

She never once took her eyes off of the tree line, just waiting for something to happen. When she heard the howls in the night, the blood in her body froze.

Edward came up beside her, "He's fine. They got through."

Kate didn't relax, however. She wasn't going to relax until he was back here with her. When she saw him appear beneath the trees and jog into the house, she had to stop herself from running to him. 

He came up the stairs and she had every intention to hug him but stopped when she saw the look on his face. He was giving her and Edward an almost empty, broken look.

"Thank you," Edward told him.

"Yeah. They make it out all right?" Jacob asked not looking at Kate.

"Yeah."

"Good." Jacob pushed past them but Kate stopped him by grabbing his hand.

"Hey, are you okay? What happened?" she asked.

Jacob still avoided her gaze but gave her hand a squeeze, "Yeah, I'm okay. I'll tell you later when we have a second alone."

He let go and walked over to Bella. Kate had to fight the urge to whisk him away and just hold him until he felt better. Whatever happened with the other pack out in the forest took a toll on Jacob. They hadn't talked about it in the last two days, but she could tell that he was upset about leaving the pack.

They were his brothers, the only people who really understood him and what he was going through. They understood Jacob in a way that Kate never could. Sure they were both supernatural, but she wasn't a werewolf. She didn't understand that side of him, try as she might.

Jacob never wanted to be an Alpha, he never wanted to be in charge but it was the Alpha blood that allowed him to stand up for what he believed in and stand by Kate's side. Sometimes she wondered if it really was the Alpha blood or the imprint bond that allowed him to pull away from Sam. Either way, she was grateful that he was beside her on this. For a few hours she thought that they would be on opposite sides and would have to face one another if a fight broke out.

She was still upset with the rest of the pack. She hadn't had any contact with any of them since the split other than the one phone call to Sam. Emily texted and called often asking if she was okay but Kate didn't respond. She couldn't bring herself to explain her side of things to Emily, not yet. She also wondered if the pack really would hurt her, even on accident, despite the imprint bond. She was worried that their rage would be too much and that she would get in the way. 

More importantly, she was worried that she would hurt them. Her powers had gotten so strong in the last few years that she knew, that if she set her mind to it, she could kill one of them, even on accident if she wasn't careful.

Kate tuned back into the conversation to hear Rosalie suggest Bella tell Jacob what they decided. While Kate had been wearing the hardwood floors down with her pacing, Edward and Bella had decided on possible baby names.

Bella smiled, "If it's a boy, EJ. Edward Jacob."

Kate looked over at Jacob's face and she could tell that the harsh look that had been there since he found out about Bella dying, faded slightly. A small smile came across his face. It made Kate smile to see him even slightly better.

 Okay, fine. That one's not awful," Rosalie agreed. "Why don't you tell him the girl's name?"

Bella once again smiled, "I was playing around with our mom's names. Renee and Esme. And I was thinking...Renesmee."

Jacob was holding back his laughter at the name, "Renesmee?"

Behind him Edward did laugh prompting Kate to let out a small chuckle as well.

"Too weird?" Bella asked.

Edward tried to cover up his laughter, "No, that's not too weird." Jacob gave him a look which he ignored. "It's beautiful. It's unique, which certainly fits the situation. I like Renesmee." 

Jacob finally looked at Kate and gave her a look that very clearly said "We're never naming one of our kids something like that."

Kate tried to hold in the laughter that threatened to bubble up from her chest. She avoided looking at him while biting her lips.

Bella turned to Rosalie with a smug smile, "He likes it."

Rosalie rolled her eyes which finally caused Kate to laugh, even the blonde's lips turned up in a smile. She reached for the cup of blood to give to Bella and handed it to her.

As Bella reached for the cup, her hand faltered and the cup dropped spilling blood everywhere. A sickening series of cracks echoed through the room, that Kate swore she would be hearing for the rest of her life.

Bella's back arched backward awkwardly and she fell forward. Edward caught her just in time before her head smacked into the ground. A contorted look of pain crossed Bella's face as everyone just stared for a moment not knowing what to do. 

Everyone surged forward to try to do something as Bella gasped in pain.

"It's coming," Kate said in a low voice realizing what was happening.

The heads in the room snapped to her as they took in her words. There were a few moments of silence before the vampires moved at once. They gently picked up Bella and moved her to Carlisle's study which had been turned into a medical room for Bella. Jacob and Kate followed quickly behind not really knowing what to do.

"Alice, call Carlisle! We have to do something!" Kate all but screamed at her when they got there.

The vampire quickly pulled out her phone and dialed his number. Bella sat there in the chair looking dazed with pain not really focusing on what was going on. Jacob stood by her side and grabbed her hand.

"Rosalie, pass the morphine," Edward snapped at her.

She quickly did as she was told and Edward poked the needle through Bella's delicate skin to try to ease the pain.

"Carlisle, said the placenta must have detached. He's coming as fast as he can..." Alice announced.

"We'll have to do it," Rosalie decided.

Almost as if she was in a daze, Rosalie grabbed the sharp scalpel ready to cut into Bella right then and there. 

Kate grabbed her hand, "Rose, let the morphine spread before you dissect her like a frog."

"There's no time. He's dying."

Bella screamed, "Get him out now!"
