Down the Same Path

After a whole day of jumping and running through forests and sand, Sakura was nearing Kabuto's hideout. "I'll get revenge Kabuto for everything you have done," she muttered to herself and soon saw a cave. "Shanaro!" she screamed and she punched through the cave. She stood in the middle as a ray of sunlight shone through the hole she made. "Well well well , if it isn't my favorite person. Sakura have you come for more fun?" He asked as he evilly laughed. There was a cold feeling in the cave, and Sakura tried not to shake in the cold atmosphere.

"Shut it, I'm here for your head. First you torture me, and now you disturb their rest!! I'll kill you!" And with that she took out her kunai and charge at him. Kabuto couldn't help but smirk as he quickly engaged in battle with her. "Oh my Sakura, I'm hurt but you should know, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree," he said as he made a cut on her arm. She quickly slashed at his chest, but was blocked by a shadow. Sakura tried to move from her place but found herself in a familiar shadow. She stopped and was forcefully turned around and saw someone she thought she will never see again.

"Shikamaru," she whispered in shock. "Sakura, I'm sorry but I can't let you escape," he said as he was under the control of Kabuto's jutsu. Sakura closed her eyes and opened them showing him her rinnegan. She quickly started using her earth style. "Earth Style: Mud wall Jutsu," she exclaimed and soon found herself in the middle of the walls. The shock of seeing shikamaru again had her head rushing. She could see memories of them, playing like a video tape.

*Flashback*
"Sakura you're not leaving this hospital,"shikamaru said as he scolded the pinkette. Sakura huffed and crossed her arms. Shikamaru couldn't help but chuckle. He patted her shoulder and said," You're my friend, and friends are supposed to take care of each other."

"Sakura!," Shikamaru screamed as she had pushed him out of the way and took a blade to the stomach. She coughed out blood and fell to the floor. Shikamaru felt a tear roll down his face and saw it land on Sakura's face. "Sakura!"

"Baka. I leave you alone for two minutes . Two minutes and what do you do?" She impatiently said. Shikamaru smirked and said,"Geez stop acting like an overprotective girlfriend." Sakura stopped mumbling and stared at him with a shocked face. Shikamaru gently smiled and grinned as Sakura nodded yes. They had become a couple.

"Sakura," Shikamaru said. They were in their first date and were now sitting under a cherry blossom tree. "Yes Shikamaru?" He took a deep breath and hugged her. She leaned in and hugged him tighter. He was going on a dangerous mission and didn't know if he was going to come out alive.

"Yo!" She said as she neared Hinata and Shikamaru. They both waved at her and Sakura smiled at them. "Did you guys miss me?" She said as she stopped in front of them. Hinata shyly nodded yes and Shikamaru hugged her. "Of course I did. Why wouldn't I?" And with that they both hugged each other.

*Flashback ends*
She slowly took a deep breath and punched the walls. The earth crumbled down and Kabuto smirked. Surely he will win. He had a Nara on his side, her old lover. He was smirking and the next second his back met the ground. He embedded two kunai on her left leg and right shoulder . Sakura's rinnegan eyes glared at him with hate. She hated him. She loathed him. He fought back and found himself winning, until she smirked and he felt a punch go through him and clench his heart. A clone had snuck up on him. He coughed out blood and fell.

Sakura looked down at him and was about to smash his skull when she felt the kunai burning. "Poison, clever Kabuto, but I'm not the foolish little girl anymore!" And with that she brought her foot down and heard a crack. She clenched her fists and turned around. "Shikamaru," she whispered But Shikamaru started glowing. "Sakura," he said with a smile on his face and walked towards her,"It's nice to see you again." "Why?" She whispered. "Why?! "Why did you try to betray us?!"she screamed as tears rolled down on her face. "Because I didn't want you to get hurt. I was going to protect you guys, but I couldn't let my dad know. Look Sakura," he said as he stepped towards her and wiped her tears away.

"I miss you. I miss our friends, but my time has finished. If only I was alive, I could fix everything . I could be with you. If only I could apologize for everything I did, maybe you wouldn't be crying right now. You'd be happy, but no matter what," he said as he felt a tear rolling down his face. "I will always love you," he said and kissed her head. "Don't leave! Please Shikamaru!" She begged as she felt tears rolling down her face, but this time they were faster. "Don't make this harder . I died, and you are living. I admit I still love you Sakura, but," he clenched his fists as he started floating," You have to forget me,". And with that he disappeared.

Sakura fell to the floor and cried. She cried for her losses, her pain, her loneliness. She cried and felt her heart shouting out in pain. She sobbed . She misses Shikamaru and regrets what she did. Everyday she is reminded that she killed him. Her purple eyes were red from crying, and her bleeding shoulder and leg, even her body from the injuries she sustained, were screaming in pain. She quietly stood up and wiped her face. She quickly and painfully did a fire jutsu and set the inside of the cave on fire. She took out a photo of Shikamaru and looked at it. Never will she be happy again. She will be alone.

But that's okay with her, because she went down the same path, her friend had.
