It Started at the Diner- A Devin Booker Story

~The End of the Trip~

The trip was very eventful. They went hiking, sight-seeing, scuba diving even. While it was unplanned that they were gonna be on the trip, this was definitely a vacation to remember.

However, Devin still hasn't asked. Something always came up. He'd get so close, but Melanie would be needed somewhere else. Like the other day, they went out to dinner, and Devin tried to ask in the middle of the restaurant before he got too scared to. But then, Maddie and Rachel took her away as soon as he took the box out of his pocket. Needless to say, he wasn't very happy. Which is why he will be doing it. Today. He swore to himself he would do it before the trip ended. And nothing was stopping him.

Today was their last day in Bora Bora. To finish off the trip, they decided it would be fun to rent a boat for a few hours before dinner. Melanie gets dressed in a white dress with a pair of tan slides. Devin walks up to her once she ties the front of her dress into a bow to keep it on. He smiles at her. "You look beautiful, babe," he says.

Melanie turns around and smiles at him. "Thank you, Pooka," she says, wrapping her arms around his neck. "You look very handsome."

Devin smiles at her. "Thank you, mamas," he says. He was wearing a white t-shirt with some black shorts, paired with some Gucci slides cuz he's extra like that. Plus, they were going on a boat, so footwear was optional. He look her up and down. "It's taking everything in me to skip out on our last day with everyone else, so I can have you all to myself."

Melanie smiles as he pulls her closer. "You and me, both," she says. "I feel like we haven't been alone, except for when we're in our room."

Devin sighs and hugs her. "I know." He starts smirking. "Last night was fun, though."

Melanie lets out a giggle. "It was fun." She's not made of stone.

Devin looks at her with a huge smile on his face. "I love you."

Melanie smiles at him. "I love you, too." They meet for a passionate kiss.

Devin pulls away to lay a kiss on her forehead. 'Now or Never,' he thought. He takes a deep breath. "So, lately, I've been thinking," he says. "We've been together for a little while now."

Melanie smiles at him. "We have, haven't we?"

Devin nods. "Yeah, so, I've been meaning to ask you something." He goes to take the ring out of his pocket, but he's only stopped again. The door busts open, and Ben and Maddie walk in. "Every time."

Melanie pouts at him. "You wanna talk about it later?"

Devin nods. 'If there even is a later,' he thought. "We really gotta start locking that door."

Ben and Maddie look offended. "What you don't wanna see us?" Ben says.

Devin shakes his head. "Not when I'm in the middle of something." He points to the balcony. "Ben, get outside."
