~October 30th: Devin's 24!~
It was currently 10 AM. Devin usually would be up at 6 AM for a morning workout, but Melanie was up at 7:30 out of habit and let him sleep in a little bit. He came back from a road game in Philly pretty late last night and immediately KO'ed upon crawling in bed since he got on the plane right after the game and couldn't sleep since everyone was so loud-they did beat the Sixers last night. Devin had a game at 7, and his birthday party was tonight after the game at the same club Melanie's party was at.
Melanie had the day off from classes today, and since today was Devin's birthday, she can start his surprise early. She got up early to do a little bit of studying in their home office and had some coffee. She then made him some chocolate hazelnut croissants with a side of scrambled eggs and turkey bacon for breakfast. She pours two glasses of orange juice and some coffee for Devin. She takes the croissants out of the oven and plates them nicely. After plating them and cleaning up her kitchen, she decides to head upstairs to wake him up after scowling at bruno for going for the bacon.
She quietly walks into their shared room and over to Devin's side of the bed, where he was slightly snoring. She sees that he had his hand on her pillow since she usually sleeps on his chest. She smiles as she starts crawling on top of him and lays multiple kisses on his cheek. "Happy birthday, baby boy," she mumbles against his cheek.
Devin starts waking up and smiles at her as he wraps his arms around her waist. "Thank you, mamí," he says, his Spanish accent coming out a bit. He sits up so that she's straddling his lap and meets her in the middle for a sweet kiss.
The kiss starts getting heated, and Devin starts pushing her black cardigan off her shoulders. "Mmm, nope," she says, pulling away and making him pout. "As much as I love where this is going, I made you breakfast."
Devin kisses her again as he rubs her thighs. "Thanks, mamas, but why would you make breakfast when I have you right here?" He smirks at her.
Despite feeling aroused, Melanie holds her ground. "Nice try. C'mon, before I give your breakfast to the dog." She pats his cheek before getting off his lap.
Devin groans in annoyance. "Fine. But best believe I'm getting some later." He slaps her ass as she walks away.
Melanie gives him a look. "Hurry up."
With that being said, they go do what they have to do. Devin comes downstairs to see Melanie setting the small dining area near the kitchen and sees that she made chocolate hazelnut croissants, which are-in his opinion-the best thing she's ever made. "You made croissants?" His smile starts growing by the second.
Melanie laughs at his excitement and nods. "Yes, I did. They're still warm."
Devin sits down, looking like a little kid in a candy store. "I'm 'boutta stuff my face right now." He grabs a croissant from his plate and takes a huge bite, almost falling out of his seat from the flavor.
Melanie laughs at him. "Okay, big boy, don't eat too much, or you'll throw up at practice, and I don't think coach will like that." She takes a seat next to him.
Devin gives her a look, taking another bite from the croissant. "That's not for another few hours. I'll be fine." Practice starts at 5; it was currently 11:30.
Melanie gives him a look. "You sound like my grandpa after his second heart attack." Fortunately, he's still alive, just has a pacemaker.
Devin looks at her surprised. "Your grandpa had two heart attacks?"
Melanie shakes her head. "Three." He gives her a shocked look. "It's a miracle he's still alive." It's not that she doesn't love him; he just won't die. I fight Vietnam war, heart attack nothing, he'd say.
