~New Year's Eve~
The team had arrived in LA, and Devin and Melanie decided to stay with Andrew and Mia instead of the hotel with the team. While they loved Andrew and Mia, their house was very loud. Mia owned a hair and nail salon and was constantly getting calls from clients and other employees, and Andrew was an immigration lawyer constantly getting calls from clients trying to get their family into the US. On top of that, Jacob and Chase weren't the quietest kids.
Melanie wakes up to the door opening, revealing Mia holding Chase on her hip. She groans tiredly and stretches, causing Devin to turn over and put his pillow on his head. "What's up, Mia?" she asks, fatigue evident in her voice.
Mia smirks at them. "Well, I'm surprised you guys are dressed," she says, earning a dirty look from Melanie and deep chuckle from Devin. "Anyway, breakfast is in the kitchen if you guys are hungry." She puts Chase on the bed, letting him go over to them. "Chase, go wake up Aunty Mimi and Uncle Devin."
Melanie chuckles as she sits up and pulls Chase on her lap. "Good morning, Chickee," she says in a baby voice.
Chase just smiles. "Morn, Aunty," he says. He was only two, so he was still learning his words.
Mia smiles at them, and her phone rings. She looks at Melanie. "Do you think you can watch Chase for a few minutes?" she asks him. "I gotta take this."
Melanie nods. "Yeah, I got him." With that, Mia walks out of the room to take the call. Melanie looks at Chase. "Go wake up Uncle Devin."
Devin had his eyes closed the whole time to try and go back to sleep. He rolls over to them and looks at Chase. "I was awake the whole time," he says. "Can I hang with my nephew?"
Melanie laughs as Chase crawls over to Devin. She reaches over to grab her glasses and puts them on. "What time do you have to go to the Staples Center?" she asks.
Devin tries to remember. "I think, like, four," he replies. "The game starts at 5:30." It was currently 11AM.
Melanie nods at him. "Okay. Mia made breakfast, if you're hungry."
Devin looks excited. "I'm ready to eat." He looks at Chase. "You ready to eat, lil man?" Chase nods, making Devin nod as well. "Alright, I'll brush my teeth, and we'll go."
Melanie laughs at their bond as Devin walks over to the bathroom. "Uncle Devin's crazy, huh, Chase?" Chase giggles, being the baby he is. She continues to play with him.
Devin peeks his head around. "Aye, Chase, watch out for Aunty's dragon breath," he says through his toothpaste. He tries to hold back his laughter when he sees Mel's offended look so that he wouldn't spit it out everywhere.
Melanie grabs a pillow from the floor and throws it at him, making Chase start laughing. Devin shrieks and immediately shuts the door to shield himself from the pillow. She shakes her head before looking at Chase. "Can you believe your uncle?" she says to him.
Devin opens the door a few minutes later, peeking his head out. "Are you gonna throw something at me if I come out?"
Melanie snorts and rolls her eyes. "No promises."
Devin comes out and looks at the two as they were cuddled up together on the bed. "Damn, lil' man stole my girl, already." He smiles as Melanie laughs at him. "Why'd you steal her from me, man?" He goes to tickle Chase, making him laugh loudly.
Melanie laughs as Devin grabs Chase from her. "Don't hurt him, babe!"
Mia had just finished her phone call and was now watching them from the doorway. She leaves them alone and lets them play.
