~February 14th~

It's officially Valentine's Day, AKA the holiday that started it all for Devin and Melanie. Today was very special for them.

This time, Devin was the one that got up early to start the day. He attempted to make breakfast. Key word, attempted. Melanie, unfortunately, got called into the hospital today since they were under staffed, so he decided to step up and make breakfast.

He rushes around the kitchen as he tries to cook as fast as he can. Melanie comes down dressed in her scrubs and looking shocked. "You're cooking?" she asks.

Devin sighs. "I'm trying to, at least," he replies. He puts the lids on the pan. "You make it look so easy."

Melanie chuckles and switches the lids over. "Well, I give you an A for effort."

Devin smiles at her. "Thank you." He lays a kiss on her lips. "Happy Valentine's Day."

Melanie smiles as they kiss again. "Happy Valentine's Day." They kiss again.

Devin exhales as he looks around the kitchen. "Maybe, I should just stick to basketball." Melanie laughs at him, and he pours her a cup of coffee. "Here you go, babes."

She smiles at him. "Thank you." She looks guilty as she takes a sip before putting it back down. "I'm sorry I have to work on Valentine's Day."

He takes her hands in his. "Hey, don't do that. Don't ever feel like you have to apologize for your work." He shrugs. "Besides, we'll just celebrate with a dinner tonight."

She gives him a look. "You're not mad?"

He shakes his head. "Nah. I mean, it's not entirely how I wanted to spend the day, but I'll take what I can get." He pulls her in for a hug. "Plus, what kind of boyfriend would I be if I got mad at you for doing your job when I'm gone for half the year doin' mine?"

Melanie smiles up at him. "I guess you're right." They meet for a kiss as Devin cups her face in his hands.

Then, Melanie's pager goes off, making them pull away. Melanie sighs, guiltily. Devin smiles at her. "Duty calls," he calls. "Go, I'll clean up."

Melanie smiles at him. "You're the best."

Devin smirks as he leads her out to her car. "I know," he says. He laughs when she slaps his arm. "Have a good day at work." He pecks her lips.

Melanie smiles and kisses him again. "Don't you worry. After my shift, I'm all yours." They kiss one more time as he opens the door for her. "I love you."

Devin smiles at her. "I love you." He closes the door once she gets in and waves as she drives away. He sighs as he walks back inside. He looks at their two dogs. "I miss your mom already." He goes to clean up his mess.

~At the Hospital~

Melanie walks into the locker room to see Josh and Olivia smirking as they play with their pagers to page her. She gives them a dirty look. "You guys paged me?" she asks.

Olivia looks at her. "Someone's crabby," she says.

Melanie looks at her. "Oh, I'm sorry," she says, sarcastically. "It's just that it's Valentine's Day, and I'm supposed to shower my boyfriend with love."

Olivia stops laughing. "Why do you think we paged you to hurry up?"

Melanie looks grumpy as she puts her stuff in her locker. "Because you guys are lonely on a day that's all about love."

Josh sighs at the sentence. "Man, being single sucks," he says. "It's even worse when you're in your mid 20s, and your mom is trying to set you up with her friends' daughters all because they have a degree from an Ivy League school."
