It Started at the Diner- A Devin Booker Story

The Next Day:

Melanie wakes up and turns over, expecting to feel Devin laying right next to her. She gets confused as she feels a cold spot instead of his warmth. Then, she finally hears the shower going off, signaling that Devin was in the shower. She sits up from her spot, grimacing at the pain shooting up her back. They probably went a little too far, last night.

She reaches over for her glasses and puts them on before grabbing her phone. She starts scrolling through her phone and replying to texts. She sends one last text to Mia, telling her that they would be ready in a couple hours.

Devin gets out of the shower and puts his boxers on. He sees that his girlfriend was awake and smiles. He walks out of the bathroom and towards the bed. She turns her head and smiles at the sight of him. "Morning," she says to him.

He smiles at her. "Morning, mamas," he says, leaning over to her side to give her a kiss. He kisses her a few more times before pulling away. "How'd you sleep?"

Melanie nods at him. "Good," she replies. "How was your shower?"

He kisses her cheek before turning to his suitcase. "It felt nice." He starts smirking as he grabs some clothes out. "Would've been better if you joined me, though."

She rolls her eyes at his words. "If I joined you, we would've taken a lot longer to get ready than we're supposed to." He laughs at her. "Not to mention, my family is waiting downstairs."

His smirk grows as he starts getting dressed. "You think Taylor heard us again?"

Melanie starts blushing like crazy as she throws a pillow at his back, making him laugh. "Finish getting dressed." She gets out of bed and walks to the bathroom.

As she was walking to the bathroom, Devin checks her out and licks his bottom lip. All mine, he thought. He snaps out of his thoughts when the shower turns on and goes back to getting ready. He gets dressed in a black v-neck and ripped dark washed denim shorts, paired with black and white Old Skool Vans.

Once he finished getting ready, Melanie's phone starts ringing. "Babe! Your phones ringing!" he calls out.

"Can you check who it is for me?!" she calls back.

Devin goes up to her phone to see who was calling her. He sees her moms contact photo. "It's your mom," he says.

"Can you answer it?!" she tells him.

He slides his thumb across the screen to answer. "Hi, mama," he says, cheekily grinning. He puts her on speaker as he walks into the bathroom when Mel was getting out of the shower.

Yvonne chuckles at him. "Hi, Devin," she says. "Where's Mel?"

"She's getting out of the shower right now," he replies. He hands her a towel.

"Oh, okay," Yvonne says. "Tell her to hurry up and finish getting ready. Billy wants to leave in one hour."

Devin looks at Mel to confirm that she heard it. She nods back at him as she starts getting dressed. He goes to speak into the phone. "Yeah, she's almost ready."

"Okay," Yvonne replies. "See you guys down there."

They say their final goodbyes and hang up. Melanie looks at Devin once her bra was on. "Can you pack my bag with everything?" she asks him.

He nods at her. "Yeah," he replies. "It might still be packed with everything cuz we got a little busy last night." He smirks as he finishes his sentence.

She rolls her eyes at him. "Go check, please." He laughs as he exits the bathroom to do as she says while she finishes getting ready.

He opens the small backpack and sees that everything they had was still there. "Everything's ready to go," he calls to her. He goes on his phone to check on reservations for a certain restaurant he wanted to take them to, tonight.
