My life was falling apart. I was in debt, working a minimum wage paying job, and refusing to ask for help. I thought everything was over for me.
That is.... until he showed up.
Ben looks confused. "Why?" He winces in pain when Devin grabs his collar and pulls him outside.
Melanie and Maddie laugh at them. "I wonder what that's about," Melanie says.
Maddie shrugs. "Who knows?" she says.
Devin closes the balcony door and looks angrily at Ben. "What the hell's the matter with you?"
Ben looks confused. "What do you mean?" He gives him a look. "Oh, don't tell me you haven't asked her, yet."
Devin holds his arms out. "I was about to, but you had to bust through the door."
Ben gives him a look. "You were about to propose to her in a room? No romantic gesture?"
Devin shrugs. "Mel doesn't want that. She's even told me, herself. She doesn't like romantic gestures."
Ben looked flabbergasted. "You imbecile!"
Now, it was Devin's turn to look flabbergasted. "Are you-what did you just call me?"
Ben looked angry now. "An imbecile. When a girl says that, everyone knows that it's code for, 'You better do something cute, or we're done'."
Although that wasn't true for Melanie (and Devin's better conscience knew it), he still ate it up. He looks at him. "Really?" he asks. Ben nods. Devin looks expectantly. "What do you got?"
Ben smiles and wraps his arm around Devin's shoulders. "Leave it to me. I just gotta make a couple calls."
Devin looks up at him. "Now, I'm really concerned."
Inside, Rachel and Kelly arrived a few minutes after Ben and Devin went outside. Rachel, Melanie, and Maddie were talking about what happened earlier. "I don't know," Melanie says. "Do you think Devin wants to break up with me? He looked pretty serious."
Kelly, who knew what Devin had planned, distanced himself from the conversation. He didn't tell Rachel, but she did suspect him of keeping a secret. Rachel shakes her head. "Mel, don't think like that," she says.
Maddie nods as she rubs Melanie's shoulder. "Yeah, he would never break up with you while you're on vacation," she says.
Rachel nods. "And if he does, we'll feed him to the sharks."
Kelly agreed with her. "Got that right." He almost slaughtered Devin when he was rumored to be cheating on Mel with Kendall Jenner. He wasn't afraid to actually do it.
Melanie looks scared. "So, you're saying he wants to break up with me?!"
Maddie and Rachel immediately shake their heads. "No, we aren't saying that," Maddie says.
Rachel puts her hands on Mel's shoulders. "Why don't we sit down, huh?" she assures. She sits next to Melanie. "I'm sure it's nothing."
Melanie exhales and nods. "You're right," she says. "I'm just going crazy."
Ben and Devin come back in and greet Kelly and Rachel. Devin gives Melanie a kiss. He looked concerned as he sensed something was wrong. "You okay?"
Melanie nods at him. "I'm alright. Just blew something out of proportion."
Devin wasn't convinced but nods at her. "Okay. Well, you ready to go?" She nods, and he looks at everyone else. "Y'all ready?" They nod and leave to go to the boat.
