~Real Life~
They were a few glasses of champagne in. Devin pours them, their last round before they went back to shore. "Alright," he starts, raising his glass. "To...," he looks at Mel, "what are we toasting to?" He was a little drunk, at the moment. If you couldn't already tell.
Mel laughs at him. "To the Schneider's for the trip," she says.
"To the Schneider's," they repeat. They clink their glasses together.
Devin takes a sip from his glass and looks at Ben, who was walking up to him. "What's up?" he asks.
Ben pulls him aside. "Don't get too drunk," he says. "You still gotta do something."
Devin remembers that he had the ring in his pocket. "Oh, shit. You made the calls, yet?" He puts his glass of champagne down.
Ben nods. "Yep, everything is ready once we get to shore."
Devin's eyes light up. "Like we talked about?"
Ben smiles as he wraps his arm around Devin. "Just think. We'll be at your bachelor party somewhere across the world."
That's when Devin sobers up immediately. "Yeah, now, I'm scared, man. Why you gotta scare me like that?" He didn't mind a bachelor party. But across the world?
Ben's face looked like a fish outta water. "Wha-c'mon, you're no fun."
Devin looked at him. "I'm not gonna be a liability, if I lose somebody."
Ben kisses his teeth and shakes his head. "Man."
Devin holds his hand up. "I'm not tryna get sued."
They get to shore a few minutes later. Ben tells Devin the directions to where to go. He pats his shoulder. "I promise you, Book," Ben says. "No interruptions, this time." He sees that it was just him, Devin, and Kelly while the girls were a few feet away. Ben smirks at Devin. "Before you go, lemme see the ring."
Kelly realizes. "Yeah, you never showed us," he says.
Devin sighs and takes it out of his pocket. He opens the box and shows them. "What do you think?" he asks.
Ben and Kelly look shocked. "Now, that's a diamond," Kelly says.
Ben pats Devin's back as he hands the ring back. "Good luck, Book."
