Always a Memory

  Maya's pov
I wake up with a splitting headache.

My head..

I look around.

This isn't my room!

"My lady! Your awake." I hear Lola in tears.

"W-What happened..?" I ask her.

"The doctor said someone must have hit you over the head. Your room was set on fire...." She admits.

Someone tried to kill me...I already know who.

I look around again.

This room..I hate this room..the same room he betrayed me in!

I lay back down in pain.

"The medicine my lady." She tries to get me to take it but I refuse.

"I want my husband. I don't want the medicine..." I confess.

I miss him so much.

"Amelia.." the voice I hate most calls for me.

"My lord she won't take her medicine.." Lola confesses.

"It's okay you can go." He says to her and she leaves.

"Why won't you take it?" He asks me.

"I want my husband to give it to me." I say coldly.

I hear him sigh.

"Please take it." He pleads and I refuse.

"You remind me of someone. She was also very stubborn." He confesses.

"Who was she?" I ask him.

I want to hear what he has to say about me.

"Her name was Maya. She was one of the women in the army. She would always serve me and was there for me." He admits.

He dares say my name so lightly

"Did you betray her?" I ask him.

He looks at me in shock.

"Why did you ask me that?" He glares at me.

"I'm just asking. You said 'was' or is she gone?" I save myself.

Almost got him suspicious..

"Oh. She's gone." He says.

Because of you!

"What happened to her?" I ask him.

Let's see his response.

"I don't know. She just disappeared. She was put to death, but her body was never found." He confesses.

"Who was the one who sent her to prison?" I ask him.

I see him get nervous.

Guilty huh

"I also don't know. Why do you care about her?" He asks.

"She just sounds very pitiful." I confess.

"Did you ever care about her?" I ask him.

He nods.

Liar. Once they announced the position of crown prince you forgot what I did for you!

"I cared for her but after it just wasn't the same." He said.

Always wants to be pitied. Pathetic.

"Now can you take the medicine?" He asks.

I'm going back to taking revenge for sure.

I forcefully get myself to let him give it to me.

He smiles at me.

I hate that smile

He sits next to me and lifts me up to keep taking the medicine.

Suddenly his wife comes in.

"Your majesty..." I put my hand on his chest.

Take that

"What is she doing here?!" She yells.

She grabs me and throws me down.

"How dare you! She is sick!" Ethan pushes her down and slaps her.

She holds her cheek glaring at me.

I weakly smirk at her.

"Why do you defend her!?" She yells at him.

"Because I can! Because I want her!" He yells back.

"Guards! Take her back to her room and don't let her out without my permission!" They quickly come in and grab her to take her back to her room.

"No! YOU WILL PAY FOR THIS!" She yells in the distance.

He carries me back to the bed.

"I'm so sorry.." he lays me down.

"Rest. I'll check on you later." He covers me up.

He is willing to do all this for the throne..unbelievable.
