Always a Memory

Maya's pov
I stay up all night thinking of what to do first.

"Lola. Distract the guards. I'm going to grab the letters and change it for blank ones." I explain and she nods.

We head to Ethan's room.

"THIEF! HELP!" she yells out and they go to her aid.

She rushes them away and I quietly go in.

"Who is there?!" Ethan says.

He looks drunk

I sneak to his desk and quietly open up the drawer.

The letters?! Where are they?!?

I check in the closet and I notice a secret door.

This must be it

I check to see all the letters along with my husband's letters to me.

I switch them with blank ones and sneak right back out.

Once I go back to my room I see the old maid here.

"How did you get in here?!?" I ask her.

"Lola helped me. I found out about the necklace." she said.

"What is it?" I ask her.

"It was a map of their house. I was able to find it for you. These are the letters they wrote to you before they passed." She explains.

I grab them and read them.

"I know what is coming. Just know we love you. I was able to convince Prince Ethan to keep you alive. I am so sorry my dear you on what you will have to witness that at such a young age. The Queen is a very manipulative person. Because your father rejected her, she sent people to hunt us down. I had to hide you. Be careful and always fight for what's right. We will always be proud of you. I know you will avenge us. We love you so much baby..Mama and Papa will love you forever."

I tear up.

They didn't deserve this! I didn't deserve this!

"We have to prepare for what is coming. Rest." The old maid said and vanished.

I'll make sure the queen dies in my hands..!

I stay up all night preparing for my plans.

The morning finally comes.

Before I even go to the hall, I see the man I been waiting for all my life.

"P-Princess..look." I look more closely and I see him with another woman.

W-Who is that?!

I run to him.

"My lo-.." he pushes me away slightly.

"Don't do that." he says coldly.

why is he treating me like this.

"Who is she..??!" I ask angrily.

"My future princess." He walks off with her.

I fall to the floor.

I knew it was too good to be true.

I touch my stomach and tears run down my face.

Your father doesn't love us..i'm so sorry..

Lola helps me up.

"Prepare for the banquet. I will deal with that later." I say angrily.

Lola nods.
