Always a Memory

                             Alistair's pov
"My lord..we were finally able to find where to talk to with the king." One of my men say.

Finally

We secretly meet in a secluded area.

"This may be a trap my lord." one of my men whisper.

I nod.

I signal my men to surround the place outside.

I quickly walk in and sit down.

We'll see.

Suddenly men appear around me with swords.

"Now!" I yell out and my men come in and instantly capture them.

"Who sent you?" I ask all of them.

All of them commit suicide except for one.

Before he can do so I rip out the poison from his tongue.

"You will tell me now or else." I grab a knife and start slicing him.

He yells in pain.

"Say it." I say coldly.

"PRINCE ETHAN! PLEASE LET ME GO!" He yells.

Of course it had to be my dear brother.

"Since you recently came here...what is happening over there?" I ask him waving around the knife to threaten him.

"H-He is going to marry the princess...that's all I know! I promise!" he pleads.

M-Marry Maya?! No no no...he is forcing her..

"We have to do is alliance as quickly as possible!" I panic.

I try to not imagine the millions of things he could do to her.

Wait for me my princess...please..

                          Maya's pov
I went to see grandmother and I notice one of the Queen's maids mixing some white powder in her soup.

What is that queen up to now

"Lola. Make sure no one else comes to bother grandmother. I have a plan. Be sure to bring the doctor." I tell her.

"Remember that maid and bring her to me when I tell you to in a few days." I instruct her and go see grandma.

"Grandmother.." I open the door and she quickly dismisses everyone.

I take the bowl of soup away.

"What are you-.." I cover her mouth and signal her to the shadow next the door.

She nods.

"How are you feeling?" I ask her.

She pretends to drink the soup.

"Better my dear." She says.

I see the shadow disappear.

Good.

"I have a way to expose Ethan and his mother, but I need you to cooperate." I whisper to her.

She nods.

"There is a pill where you technically die for a few days and come back to life. You will be asleep for a few hours." I explain.

"How will this help?" she asks.

"Do you trust me grandma?" I ask her.

She nods.

"Grandma...Do you really know who I am?" I ask her.

She smiles and nods.

"I know who you are Maya..I saw you grow up into a fine young General. You may have changed your appearance, but I knew." She gives me a big hug.

I tear up.

"You have treated me so well these years...I can't let them hurt you.." I tear up.

"I trust you. Go ahead." She says calmly and takes the pill.

I look at the doctor and he nods.

Lola runs out yelling out the incident.

I drop the bowl on the floor to make it seem she drank it.

It's going as planned.

The emperor comes running and I start to tear up.

"Grandma! Wake up! please!" I yell out holding her hand.

"What happened to my mother?!" He yells out to the doctor.

"S-She was poisoned..your majesty..I don't feel a pulse...S-She's gone.." He hesitates.

"G-Gone....!?" He tears up and holds his mother's hand.

"I am so sorry mother...I didn't protect you..." He kisses her on the forehead.

"Grandma! please!" I keep yelling out.

Suddenly Ethan and his mother come in and sees grandma 'dead'.

She comforts her husband and sits down next to his mother.

I faintly see her smirk.

She is so daring...

Ethan comes to me and gives me a hug.

"Don't cry princess.." He tries calming me down.

We go back to the palace and he announces the death of his mother.

Now I have to find a way to grab the letters from Ethan's room...

"Find who killed my mother!!" He yells out and they nod.

"I know who did it my dear husband..." The Queen says.

What is she planning

She brings in the maid.

SHE IS TRYING TO COVER HER TRACKS!

"My lord..Let me investigate this matter." I plead.

He stays unconvinced.

"Speak now!" she yells at the maid.

"I-...." before she answers, I interrupt her.

"Please my lord. I will investigate this for you...for grandma..." I convince him with emotions and he finally nods.

I smirk at the queen and she gets angry.

I won't let you get away again.
