"He could run faster than the speed of sound but he still wasn't fast enough to close the distance between them."
Spencer Hathaway had a good life. Not incredibly noteworthy. Not utterly horrible. Just good. Then Barry Allen was struck by lighting...

"Where the hell are you? You should've been here already!"
"Cait, calm down. The accelerator doesn't turn on for another seven hours, I have plenty of time." Spencer assured her friend and co-worker, with an eye roll that Caitlin couldn't see over the phone. The blonde was currently walking the streets of Central City in her highest heals whilst carrying two bags of food in one hand and pressing her phone to her ear with the other.
"Still, it's a big day. One full of both celebration and anxiety and I don't think I can keep it together without you here."
The blonde smiled. "Caitlin, I love you. And I promise you, I won't be much longer. Until then, remember, deep breaths." She heard the bio-engineer do just that. "Good. Also, where is your fiancé? He'd probably do more good that I."
"Home. He doesn't need to be here and he doesn't really like these things."
"Ok well, I should be at STAR Labs in 15. Do you think you'll survive until then?"
Caitlin groaned playfully, "If I must. See you soon."
Chuckling, she ended the call. "See you." Shaking her head, she continued walking down the sidewalk.
Spencer Hathaway was on her way to STAR Labs in preparation for the launch of the brand new Particle Accelerator. She had been working there since she graduated college in Starling City. That's how she met her best friend Caitlin Snow, along with her other closest friend Cisco Ramon. Both Caitlin and Spencer are bio-engineers while Cisco is a mechanical engineer. When the lab needed a structural engineer for the accelerator, Spencer was quick to recommend her childhood friend Ronnie Raymond. That's how Caitlin met Ronnie, and Spencer took all the credit for bringing them together.
Thinking about her favorite couple, Spencer squinted down at her phone, annoyed by the glare, looking for Ronnie's number in her contacts. While she was distracted, she collided with someone else walking by, her phone getting knocked out of her hands.
"I'm so sorry," a rushed voice said. Spencer watched the stranger quickly bend down and pick up her phone, placing it back into her hands. "I hope it's not damaged."
The blonde looked from her- luckily not cracked- phone to the man. Her eyes immediately locked onto his piercing green ones. She'd seen him before, probably in passing. His brown hair was neatly combed, and he had a bag slung over his shoulder. Remembering the phone, she smiled at him. "It's fine. Don't worry about it."
He smiled back, nodding. "I'm sorry to run, but I'm late for work."
Before she could say anything, he was running past her. She watched him sprint down the sidewalk in amusement. She shrugged the twenty second exchange off and went back to calling Ronnie. He picked up on the third ring.
"Hathaway, what do I owe the pleasure?"
She laughed. "Raymond, what's this I hear about you not supporting your gorgeous fiancé tonight?"
