"He could run faster than the speed of sound but he still wasn't fast enough to close the distance between them."
Spencer Hathaway had a good life. Not incredibly noteworthy. Not utterly horrible. Just good. Then Barry Allen was struck by lighting...

Since arriving back at her place, Spencer dedicated all of her time to get ready for her date. Well, most of her time. It was like eighty percent getting ready for the date and twenty percent stressing out about the date. It was the first time she'd be going out with someone in a long time. Not since the accelerator explosion. It was time to get herself back out there but her anxiety wasn't particularly looking forward to it. What should she wear? How should she do her hair? Makeup? What would she order at the restaurant? Should she go light and stick to a salad? Or should she go for her usual pasta? God, would she do that horrible thing and fill up on the bread sticks like she always did?
It took her about an hour to commit to a look for the evening- a pink-red, pleated, satin dress with nude pumps. It took her another hour to get ready. She showered, brushed her teeth again and straightened her hair after blowing it dry. She painted her nails to match her dress and did light make up the same as well. To finish her look, she pinned back some of her hair. Now it was nearing the time to leave her apartment to meet Ethan at the restaurant and she was admiring her work in the mirror. It was her first time out in ages and like hell was she going to waste the opportunity to do her best work. And to her expert opinion, she did.
Now, she was on route to the restaurant Ethan told her about. It was new, on the south side of town and really nice, according to him. She kept telling herself, even if this date went south, at least she'd get a good meal out of it.
She pulled up to the place, noting its classy façade and nodding, impressed. Then she glanced through her window and noticed Ethan pacing in front of the building, most likely waiting for her. A smile instantly formed on her face. The last time she met a guy for dinner, he had already been seated at the table, a drink ordered, when she arrived. This date was already off to a better start.
She carefully got out of the car, afraid to trip in her heels. And unfortunately, like the universe was against her and could read her mind, she felt herself gravitating toward the ground. However, she didn't quite make it when she felt a pair of arms reach out and steady her. She looked up to find the smiling face of Ethan and she breathed out a sigh of relief. However, she was hit with a sudden feeling of deja vu, where Barry's arms were the ones wrapped around her to keep her steady. She pushed the thought away and focused on the guy who was actually here.
"Oh, my goodness, thank you! I'm such a klutz," she laughed, her cheeks flushing in embarrassment.
Ethan shook his head, "No thanks necessary. I couldn't have the night end before it even started." He offered his hand to her which she gladly took.
"Well then, let's get it started."

The night went on swimmingly. The conversation never lulled and Spencer found herself laughing through most of it. When the waiter took their orders, Ethan encouraged her to get the pasta when she was debating between it and the salad. And neither of them ended up finishing their main course as they had both filled up on the bread beforehand. It was the perfect date and to top it off, the pair ended up sharing a slice of Oreo cheesecake for dessert.
