"He could run faster than the speed of sound but he still wasn't fast enough to close the distance between them."
Spencer Hathaway had a good life. Not incredibly noteworthy. Not utterly horrible. Just good. Then Barry Allen was struck by lighting...

Spencer, Caitlin and Cisco kept a careful eye on the monitors in the Cortex as Barry went to talk to Iris as The Streak. They watched the still dot on screen that represented the speedster remain at Jitters for a few minutes as Barry spoke to Iris. The comms were turned off out of respect to the pair's privacy but also so the group at STAR Labs could speak freely.
"This doesn't bother you?" Caitlin spoke up breaking the silence.
Spencer tore her gaze from the screen to look at her friend in confusion. "Who? Me?" The brunette nodded. "Why would it bother me?"
Cisco scoffed. "I don't know. Maybe because the guy you like keeps sneaking off to have secret talks with another girl?"
Spencer sighed. "Well, that other girl is the one who Barry happens to be in love with. I have no right to be bothered. It's not like I'm his girlfriend." Then she muttered to herself, "Unless of course I was talking to Eddie."
"Still, doesn't it annoy you that he keeps rendezvousing with her when he's supposed to be keeping his space?" Caitlin tried one last time.
"Of course it does." She replied softly, turning back to the monitor on the screen. That's when she noticed the dot had begun moving away from Jitters. "Turn the comms back on."
Cisco nodded, switching the communications back on so they could speak to Barry.
"Barry talk to us!" Caitlin's voice boomed.
"What are you doing?" Cisco questioned from his place behind a computer. "Dude, don't run angry. We don't know how to defeat him yet."
They watched as Barry stopped at the abandoned warehouse where they guessed Tony was hiding out. They waited with bated breath for Barry to update them on what he was seeing.
"This is definitely the place." Barry finally told them.
Spencer opened her mouth to reply when there was a loud crash on Barry's side. Her eyes widened and she ran over to sit beside Cisco at the computers. There was a bad spike in his vitals. "Barry?"
They could hear another muffled voice, presumably Tony's and shared looks of fear. More loud bangs were heard until the loudest, final one. Spencer's heart stopped for a brief moment. "Barry? Barry!" She stood up from her seat already moving toward the exit. "We have to go help him!"
Cisco and Caitlin didn't bother arguing and followed her out the door. They all piled into Spencer's car and she drove as quickly as she could without breaking the law to where Barry was. They ran into the warehouse in search of their injured friend.
"Barry! Barry where are you?" Spencer called out with her friends on her heels.
"Guys, over here!" Cisco called, leading them to a knocked over shelf, with a red-gloved hand poking out.
Spencer gasped as she got close enough to see Barry lying underneath the shelf. "Oh, my God. Barry, say something. Say something so we know you're okay."
