It took a few more minutes for Spencer to force herself away from conversation with the Arrow himself but she reminded herself she promised to bring Caitlin and Cisco food. So she ordered their meals and headed back to the lab after saying goodbye to Oliver and Felicity and whispering to Barry that he better fill her in on everything with Oliver later.

During breakfast at STAR Labs, she received a text from Eddie asking if she wanted to have lunch with him at the precinct. She happily agreed, eager to spend time with her friend as it has been a while. So a few hours later she found herself on her way to the police station, picking up some Big Belly Burger on her way.

"Hey, Eddie-O!" she greeted, placing the takeout back and drink holder onto his desk. She pulled an empty chair over so she could sit beside him.

"Hey, Spence." He smiled, already retrieving his order from the bag. "Man, if this doesn't feel like old times."

She chuckled, taking a sip of her lemonade. "It does. Is that why you invited me here? To reminisce?"

He shook his head as he unwrapped his burger. "No, I wanted a chance to catch up."

She eyed him curiously feeling like he wasn't mentioning something.

"And I had some free time and wanted to take advantage of it to celebrate your birthday." He caved under her gaze.

Her eyes widened, warmth spreading through her chest. "Aw, Eddie." She watched as he opened his desk drawer and pulled out a package, neatly wrapped in shimmery silver paper. This caused her eyes to widen more. "You seriously didn't have to do anything."

"Yes I did. And I know it's not until tomorrow, but I wasn't sure when I'd get another chance to give this to you. It's from Iris, too." That explains the wrapping job. He extended the present toward her.

She took it from him slowly, excitedly nervous to open it. Eddie and Iris didn't know about her gift deal with Caitlin and Cisco so she didn't know what to expect. She tore the paper off and smiled, immediately knowing what it was; The Hunger Games trilogy.

"When you worked here, I remembered you mentioning that the set of books you had now was old and worn so the two of us wanted to get you new ones."

"That is so thoughtful, thank you!" She beamed, leaning forward to wrap him in a hug.

Moments like these make her truly thankful that Barry was struck by lightning- obviously not because it caused him pain- but because if that hadn't happen, she wouldn't have Eddie and Iris in her life.

They spent the next twenty minutes chatting and catching up. The whole time Spencer felt as if Eddie was holding something back, but she didn't mention it. And when Eddie's lunch break was almost up, her suspicions were confirmed.

"So, there's a small favor I want to ask of you."

Here we go. "What is it?" she asked curiously.
