10: Their Meeting

APHMAU BRACED HERSELF as she turned another corner, waiting to come face to face with Gene. After turning the third corner of the library there was, she saw the blue eyed monster.

He gave her a smirk, but not one of his notorious flirty or suspiciously questionable ones, rather, one filled with warmth and soul, something the other him lacked.

"Hi." he said, awkwardly giving Aph a wave that seemed way too forced to be casual.

She returned him a smiled to reassure him that she was fine, communicating solely over eye contact and gestures.

"Hello!" Aph chanted, a little too loud to be a library voice.

A couple of people sent glares toward their direction, causing her cheeks to tinge a light pint.

"Oops," she mumbled, quickly recovering. "Anyways, what's the first thing you wanna talk about?"

Gene bit his lip whilst thinking. "I kind of want to get rid of my look that the school sees me as."

Aphmau glanced at a couple of books stacked on the shelf beside her. They were cased in dust and seemed to not have been touched in decades. She picked up one of the cleanest books and took a peek at its content. After skimming it, she looked back at Gene, twisting her dark hair around her finger, "I think we should do that last," she began. "You know, build up your new persona until the school knows you've changed."

"And how exactly do we do that?" Gene replied, lifting up his eyebrow.

"For now, how 'bout you just focus on the small things. Maybe try to avoid Sasha and Zenix before moving on to the bigger problems?"

"I see." Gene nodded, a couple of strands of black hair escaping past his ear and making their way onto his face.

Her phone rang, an alarm blaring and startling everyone near them. Aph hid her face under her hair like a curtain. "Crap." she mumbled.

"What?"

"I gotta go to get ready for tonight." she responded, grabbing the book she picked out from the library. She knew she would need it for her project with Katelyn in Free Writing.

Aphmau waved bye to Gene and went to check out her book. After checking out her book, she left the library in a hurry, careful not to make too much noise.
