SHE NERVOUSLY BIT HER LIP as she let her thoughts consume her. Her driver's test was coming up and she had no study whatsoever. Katelyn would always invite to help her, but Aph never wanted the help of someone else. She always was the kind of girl who did things on her own without needing or wanting anyone else to assist her. It was a curse at times, yet one of her best qualities.
So when Tuesday came up, she was freaking out because of her driver's test, and because she had forgotten about her english homework, too. By midnight, she had barely even written the first sentence of her essay and her head was thumping from thinking too much.
"Ugh." she groaned, tousling her dark hair and spinning around in the chair next to her desk.
Rereading her only sentence on the document, she began to drift to sleep, but was immediately awoken by the annoying ringing of her phone. Aphmau squinted her eyes and grabbed ahold of her phone.
Aaronis calling...
She put on a small smile and slid her finger across the answer button.
"H-hello?" Aphmau murmured wearily.
"Hey, Aph!" Aaron's voice was cheery.
"Why'd you call?" Aph questioned, slightly more awake as she readjusted herself in her chair.
"It's midnight! Do you know what today is?" he asked, almost as if he expected her to know. She knitted her eyebrows together as she tried to guess.
"Um...Wednesday?" she replied with the uncertainty of her response seeping through her voice like an open book.
"You really don't know?" he interrogated further, seeming as though it was the most obvious answer in the world at the moment.
"How about you tell me?" she sighed and grew more tired than what she felt was possible.
"Happy Birthday!" he chanted. "I wanted to be the first to tell you. I had a feeling you'd be up at this time because I know that you probably forgot to do some homework."
"Wow," Aphmau breathed, not knowing whether that was a good thing or bad thing. "I don't know how I should take that."
"Take it in as a good way." he said awkwardly.
"Was that all you wanted to say?" Aphmau responded, yawning.
"Oh yeah, I almost forgot," Aaron began. "Look out your window."
Aphmau hoped that it was one of those cliché-like scenarios where something cheesy and romantic was about to happen. Her heart fluttered with happiness and curiosity as she grazed her fingertips over her window's curtains.
As if right on cue, the familiar dark haired boy came into view, holding up a sign.
Aphmau, will you be my girlfriend?
Her mind was racing with thoughts and her entire body was shaken from excitement. She couldn't think properly, though the only word travelling through her mind was yes, yes, yes, Aphmau managed to let out a high pitched noise as she ran down the stairs and past the driveway.
She paused halfway between her house and Aaron and began to sprint full-speed at him. Aphmau grabbed onto him and jumped, already knowing he'd pick her up. Breathing into his neck, her arms wrapped tightly around his neck, she smiled,
The two stayed like that for sometime. They never wanted to let go of each other. Their heads were in the clouds and their hearts right next to one another; where they should have been the whole time.
"I will be your girlfriend, Aaron."
