"I have my reasons." Hank replied.

"Maybe I should tell you both what we know about deviants." Connor said.

"You read my mind. Proceed." Hank said. You felt very uncomfortable.

"We believe that a mutation occurs in the software of some androids,  which can lead to them emulating a human emotion." Connor said.

"In English, please." Hank said. You chuckled.

"They don't really feel emotions, they just get overwhelmed by irrational instructions, which can lead to unpredictable behavior."

"Irrational instructions?" You asked.

"Yes. An example would be something like-"

"Being ordered to stay still while he beats you without mercy." You muttered under your breath.

"What?" Hank asked. Connor paused too.

"That seems slightly...morbid, (Y/n)."

"What the hell made you think of that?" Hank asked. You remembered Raymond. You sighed.

"Nothing. It's not important." You said. They both looked at you, concerned.

"Have you ever witnessed something like that?" Connor asked. You frowned.

"...Yes..." You muttered.

"What? When?" Hank asked.

"I don't like to talk about it." You said. Hank seemed to understand where you were coming from on that much. Connor knew not to ask.

"Emotions always screw everything up. Maybe androids aren't as different from us as we thought." Hank said. You looked at him, stunned. Aren't as different? You felt happier at his words. It's true! We aren't! You knew not to show your fast change in attitude. "You ever dealt with deviants before?" Connor thought about it.

"A few months back. A deviant was threatening to jump off a roof with a little girl. I managed to save her." Connor replied.

"So I guess you've done all your homework, right? Know everything there is to know about me?" Hank asked.

"I know you graduated top of your class. You made a name for yourself in several cases, and became the youngest lieutenant in Detroit. I also know you've received several disciplinary warnings in recent years and you spend a lot of time in bars." Connor said.

"So, what's your conclusion?" Hank asked him.

"I think working with an officer with personal issues is an added challenge, but adapting to human unpredictability is one of my features." Connor said and you saw him give a cute wink. You tried not to blush. OH MY GOD! HE FREAKING WINKED! I CAN'T HANDLE THAT! You screamed to yourself. Then you saw his LED go yellow. "I just got a report of a suspected deviant. It's a few blocks away. We should go have a look. I'll let you finish your meal. I'll be in the car if either of you need me." Connor said and walked back to the car.

"Cyberlife sure thought of everything with him, didn't they?" He said. You looked at him.

"Yeah, I guess." You replied.

"So..what was it with the whole...android gettin' beat up thing?" Hank asked.

Tell Hank the Truth?

"I..." I can't. "It's not important. It's over an done with. There's no reason to bring it up." You said. Hank sighed.

"While you can only make me more curious...I can't say I don't understand why you want to keep it to yourself." He said. You turned away from him.

"I don't feel like standing any longer. I'll be in the car with Connor." You replied and walked over to the car. Hank didn't say anything and let you go.

You climbed in and Connor looked over at you, but you refused to look at him.

"(Y/n)...why did you lie?" You were stunned.

"What?" You asked.

"You lied both about your friend and your daily food intake. Why?" He asked. You grew worried.

"Because...it's not important." You said.

"How do you know so much about androids then? Do you know anything about deviants?"

"I..have dealt with both before, alright? I understand you're supposed to find answers, but...I just...don't want to remember any of it." You replied.

"Why don't you eat?" He asked. You sighed.

"I don't need to eat that much. I don't get hungry that often." You explained. Okay, neither of those were lies. You told yourself. Connor thought about what you said.

"I've noticed you get upset more easily than normal. I hope that I am not the cause of it." He said. You smiled to yourself a little.

"No. It's not you, Connor. It's...me." You said.

"Why would you make yourself upset?" Connor asked. You sighed.

"It's hard to explain." You told him.

"(Y/n), I want you to know that I am sorry if I ever make you upset." Connor said. You looked back and smile.

"Thank you, Connor."
