*Meanwhile, at the android camp*
You followed Markus, Bandit padding beside you. You felt nervous, but you weren't going to give in. You walked alongside Markus as you made your way to the camp, your people following Markus as you all moved onward. You thought of Connor again. You didn't want to think about him, but you couldn't stop yourself from being concerned. While you wanted nothing to do with him, he was your best chance. He was the most upgraded model to date and he was very smart. You had to give him credit for that. If anybody could infiltrate Cyberlife, it was him. You could do nothing for him now, though. Not that I want to anyway.
You looked at the snow-covered scenery around you. You smiled a little. You were going to take as much in as you could if it was really the last time. You felt Bandit nudge your leg. You looked down at him. His eyes met yours. You could see the nerves flashing in his eyes. You gave him a reassuring smile and pat on the head. He looked a bit more at ease, but you could tell he was still tense.
You soon arrived at the camp. You all kept going, daring to get closer. You felt determined. There was no backing down. You couldn't give in. We can do this. You told yourself.
"Here we are. The moment of truth." Markus said.
"Heh, no kidding." You agreed. You all kept going, but you heard a soldier's voice through a speaker.
"Surrender immediately, or we will open fire." You paid no mind to his threat, tempted to roll your eyes. You honestly had heard those words so many times that it didn't even matter if you surrendered or not. They were still going to shoot. You knew that much. You heard Flame whine, but Dell hushed him.
"We got this, bud." Dell told him gently. Flame nodded. You heard the soldier tell his men to stay on standby. You didn't really care. You glanced over and spotted the many cameras and news reporters that were desperate to capture what was unfolding before them. You wondered if that would help you in any way. Would they truly slaughter you all on worldwide public news TV? You couldn't be too sure how much of a difference live TV would help you.
You all stopped in front of the camp guarded by the soldiers before you. You swallowed back every last bit of your fear and faced them with courage. There was no running away. Not this time.
"We don't want confrontation! We are protesting peacefully!" Markus called out to them.
"I repeat: surrender now or we will open fire!" He shouted back. Trucks suddenly drove forward and cut off any exit. You knew it right then. You had no choice.
"There's no turning back now." Markus said. You nodded. North, Josh, and Simon were all near you as well. You could see North was nervous, but Josh and Simon looked sure of what you all were doing. Markus spoke up again.
"We are here to demand the immediate liberation of all androids detained in camps across the country. We are not leaving until our people are free." Markus said. You all began to slowly advance. You felt your heart twist as the soldier shouted,
"FIRE!" You kept yourself from looking back at those who fell. You couldn't look back. You had to keep going forward. Bandit seemed to understand that too. He kept standing tall and padding forward with confidence, in a way, leading his own species to their form of victory. You were proud of him.
Public Opinion: ^^^
"FIRE!!" More fell, but you all kept going. Markus stopped and you followed his actions. You all sat down and Markus spoke again.
"Are you gonna open fire at unarmed protesters?" He asked. News crews were capturing every second and there was even a helicopter watching you all. It seemed to make them all think twice about shooting you straight out.
"All teams hold your fire!" The man ordered. You felt a slight hint of relief. At least they stopped shooting...for now.
"Markus, what do we do now?" North asked.
"We hold out. As long as we can." He replied.
"We should at least have some sort of mini-camp of our own. It won't be much with the little resources given, but it will be some for a defense." You said. Markus nodded.
"Agreed. We'll build a small fort that will hopefully be able to help protect us. It's the safest way of action." Markus said. With that, you all began to get to work. You breathed in and out. You could do this.
As you all got to work, you helped any way you could. Bandit and Flame kept watch on the soldiers. Birds flew overhead of them and reported back to the two. Streak was the messenger. He came to you with news when they needed him to. You all worked to build your mini-fort to keep yourself semi-protected. You were relieved nothing had happened yet.
Soon enough, you had built the fort to the best of your abilities. It wasn't the best, but it would have to do. Not like we have many other options anyway. You thought dully. You believed you could win, but it was a known fact that the situation was grim. You turned to Markus.
"We've gotta finish the barricade. Come on, help me." He said. You nodded and followed after him. You both walked toward a bench and you helped Markus set it up as the others grabbed the last few things you needed. "That should do it." You nodded. Josh spoke to you both.
"I know it was not an easy decision to make, but I'm sure we're doing the right thing." He said. You smiled.
"Me too." You agreed. Markus nodded. You both then hurried back inside the barricade. You and Markus checked on your people and Markus checked the soldiers' positions while you set up stuff to show the journalists what you all were planning. You then walked back over to Markus and Josh.
"They won't stop there. What are we gonna do if they attack?" Josh asked.
"Resist. That's the only thing we can do." Markus replied.
"We just have to hold out." You agreed.
"Do you think Connor has any chance of making it?" Josh asked. You sighed.
"I don't know." You answered honestly.
"We can only count on ourselves right now." He said.
"Fair enough." You agreed. You both walked toward North.
"This won't hold them for long, but...I guess it's better than nothing." She said.
"I lost all contact with the people at the camps. I can't hear the voices anymore." Markus said.
"Neither can I." You admitted.
"Maybe the humans have scrambled our network. Maybe they just can't get through." North said.
"For their sake and ours...I hope so." You said. Markus looked troubled.
"There's no other way out. They are going to kill us. The only hope we have left is that we don't die for nothing." He said.
"You're the hope of our people. I trust you. We all trust you." North said. "No matter what happens now we're making history." You nodded.
"North is right. Even if we die tonight, nobody can erase what we've done. And personally, I'm sure that there's still hope for us. I can feel it." You said. While you sounded optimistic, you were unsure in what you believed was going to happen.
"(Y/n)...I want you to know that...if I don't make it out of here alive...I'm glad I got to know you. I'm glad I'm fighting beside you. You're stronger than you look." North said. You smiled slightly.
"I can say the same to you North. As much as we don't agree on our courses of action, you're still my friend. I'm glad I can fight alongside you, North." You said, holding out your hand for her. She smiled a little. She hugged you.
"Don't settle for a handshake, (Y/n). If this is the last night for either of us it's probably best to make the most of it." You smiled and hugged back.
"You're right. Thanks, North." You said.
"Don't mention it." She told you. You smiled at her and nodded to her respectfully. No matter what we think, we're still on the same side.
