Connor's POV

I walked in with her and once the others noticed us I saw Oreon staring at her. I felt uncomfortable rather quickly. I tightened my grip ever so slightly, my LED flashing yellow for a moment. Once we made it over there Nelly was the first to speak.

"Hey, guys!" She greeted happily.

"Hey! you all look awesome!" Jacob said.

"Thanks!" Roxy said.

"Now, games or dance?" Dell asked.

"GAMES!" Roxy and Nelly insisted.

"I'm up for some games." Jacob said.

"Same here." Jax agreed.

"I would like to try some of the games." Zora said.

"Well, let's go!" Jaden said. (Y/n) smiled and I felt hr tug on my arm as we followed after the others. I saw that Oreon was still glancing at her every so often. I tried to force myself to ignore it. Why is this bothering me? I tried not to let it get to me, but the more I did, the more it seemed my mind would force it back into my train of thought.

I was able to focus on something else when Roxy ran over to the karaoke machine and started to sing a song she knew rather well. I smiled again as she did and we all listened to her performance. She had attracted a small crowd and I had to admit she was a very good singer. Once she finished we clapped for her, but then something completely unexpected happened.

"Your turn, (Y/n)!" Nelly shouted, pushing her forward. I saw the fear enter her expression almost immediately. I was about to pull her back to me and insist that she didn't, but Oreon stepped forward. I watched, shocked. She looked stunned as well. He picked up the second mic and picked out a song. I saw him say something to her, but I couldn't make it out.

(Y/n) smiled a little at him, clearly comforted by his words, whatever they were. With that, she began to sing. I had to admit, her voice was beautiful. I had heard it before, and I had always thought this, but my eyes were mainly on Oreon. I didn't know why, but I had an uncomfortable feeling in my chest. I wasn't mad, I was more...upset. Is it because I know how he feels for her? I wondered. I could hardly focus on anything else, but the question as to why I felt like this that was swimming around in my head.

Hank luckily brought me out of it. I felt his hand on my shoulder and my head jerked up as I looked over at him, slightly surprised by the sudden and unexpected contact. He smiled at me.

"Now that is quite the steal you got, Connor. She's quite the gal." He said. I thought about his words and I realized something. (Y/n) was in love with me, not Oreon. And Oreon had said that he accepted that, but that didn't change the way he felt toward her. Still, I smiled as I realized I was getting worked up over nothing.

"Yes." I agreed with Hank. "Indeed she is."

Oreon's POV

I spotted (Y/n) as the rest of our group came in. She looked beautiful. I could hardly register what I was seeing. She blushed a bit as she noticed my gaze and she looked at the floor, seemingly embarrassed. I didn't even notice. I couldn't stop staring. My heart started to beat faster and I realized that I was longing for her. I felt the adrenaline quickly turn into sadness and then it began to hurt instead of making me happy. It reminded me all over again that she wasn't mine. She never would be. I tried to stop myself from feeling like this again, but it kept coming almost like a wave of punches. You get a second without the force and pain of the impact of the punch, but then it comes again and again and again

I hadn't heard any of the greetings my friends had said, but I did hear the mention of games. Soon, everyone was standing and heading over to the game area. Roxy quickly spotted and ran to the karaoke machine. We all followed her. I listened to her sing, trying to keep my focus on her instead of (Y/n). I was half succeeding and half failing, still glancing over at the girl I desperately wished I could hold in my own arms.

Soon enough Roxy was done singing. I smiled, clapping for my friend. Then, something happened. Nelly pushed (Y/n) toward the machine and I realized that she would probably be too scared to sing alone. I walked up and I grabbed the second mic. I chose a song and I looked at her. She was staring at me, still in shock that I had stepped up. I gave her a smile.

"Come on. If I can sing so can you." She smiled back at me and she got ready as the song started. Her part came first, so I was doing nothing for a little bit except listening to her outstanding voice, but then it was my turn to jump in. We sang together and I loved how good we sounded. Her voice matched mine perfectly. For those few minutes, it felt like I finally had the girl of my dreams.

After we finished our song I realized that we had drawn basically everyone in the building over to us. I smiled as they all cheered for us. I smiled at (Y/n) once our eyes met. She smiled back, clearly pleased with what we had done. After that, she went back over to Connor. My heart sank a little at the realization that it was over, but at least we'd had some time together. At least, for those few minutes, it had just been us.

We all danced together and I did get to dance with (Y/n)...for a few seconds. I was mainly dancing with Claira and Roxy as a trio because none of us were really dating anybody, so were made the circle of singles. Then, (Y/n) came over toward me.

"Look at that!" She whispered. I looked at where she was looking and I saw Ralph breaking it down with Nelly! I was stunned. I smiled Atta boy, Ralph! I thought, impressed. I whispered back to her.

"Add that to the couple list." She laughed a little before heading back to Connor and continuing to dance with him. I watched the two as I danced with the girls. Connor looked so happy as he danced with her and she looked the same way, laughing occasionally as they danced with each other. I frowned a bit, but I quickly stopped myself, not wanting the others to notice.

Soon enough, we all stopped dancing and went over to the people that had sat out to hang out all together. I was happy to be spending time with everyone. All of us had really become a team. We were always there for each other and it was great to be all together. It lifted my heart. Even if (Y/n) would never love me....at least I could feel like I actually belonged somewhere.

Soon, (Y/n) got up as a request by Daren to get him and Hank some refills. She walked over and got them as all of us kept talking. Then, a few moments later Connor's LED flashed yellow and red for a few seconds before returning to blue.

"(Y/n) was recorded." He said.

"What?" Hank asked at his sudden seriousness.

"Look." He said, nodding over to the bar counter. I saw a man and a woman. I instantly grew worried and angry. Reporters. I hissed to myself. We all hurried to go help her. I could tell that she was uncomfortable. We all could really.

"What's going on here?" Connor asked. The woman turned.

"Oh! Just some questions!" She said with a smile, clearly oblivious to what was happening. Collin walked up to her.

"Excuse me, but I have to ask to not to bother my friend." He said.

"Who said I was bothering her?" The woman asked.

"I did." (Y/n) muttered. She looked at her after she'd said that, the almost creepy eager smile never leaving her face.

"Oh, it'll be fine! Just a few questions." She insisted. I wanted to throw her out on the street, but (Y/n) seemed to have a better idea.

"I'll be right back." She said and headed to the bathroom. We all understood what she was doing and after a minute or two we came up with an excuse to leave. The woman didn't even care about us as we left. She sat there, waiting eagerly to talk to (Y/n) again. I rolled my eyes, knowing she wouldn't get that chance anymore tonight at least.

I was sad that I didn't get to say goodbye to (Y/n), but I'd see her again tomorrow at least. It was something, right? Anyway, I noticed that Nelly gave Ralph a kiss on the cheek before saying goodbye. I chuckled at his face burst out blue and he gave a stunned wave back to her as she ran off. I walked over.

"Somebody's got a new girl to call." I said. He looked at me.

"Ralph is....likely to pass out." He said a smile slowly forming on his face. I laughed.

"Come on pal. Let's get back home." I said. He shook his head to clear it a bit.

"Y-yeah...home." He said, still staring after the van Nelly had disappeared into as it drove off. I chuckled, guiding him away.
