Chapter Twenty-four-- First Day of Nursing School

Jevon smiles at him. "That's love, Book."

Devin gives him a look. "How would you know? You don't even have a girlfriend."

Jevon looks at him offended. "Hey, I've been in love before. It makes you do crazy things."

Devin chuckles, agreeing with him. "It does." He would fight off a thousand men for the pleasure of Melanie's beautiful smile.

Jevon starts dribbling the ball. "Wanna go one-on-one before everyone gets here?"

Devin nods and smirks at him. "Let's go." Jevon checks the ball, and with that, they start playing.

~Two hours later-with Melanie~

It was now 11:30 AM, and Melanie was walking out of her chemistry lecture that just finished. She pulls her phone out and sees that she had a text from Devin. She smiles as she reads it.

Melanie smiles as she puts her phone away and heads to the dining hall to get something quick to eat.

~With Devin~

Devin takes a deep breath before taking a drink of water after finishing a workout. He daps up Kelly as he walks up to him. "What's up, Oubre?" he greets.

"Nothin' much," Kelly replies. "Rachel started teaching today."

Devin looks interested. "For real? Where she work?" He puts his water bottle in his bag.

"Uh, GCU," Kelly replies. "How was dropping Mel off at school?"

Devin shrugs. "It wasn't bad. I miss her like crazy though." He chuckles and shakes his head at himself.

Kelly chuckles and pats his shoulder. "It's all good, man. I feel the same about Rachel."

Deandre comes up to them. "Man, y'all are just a bunch of simps," he says.

Devin and Kelly look at him offended. "Hey." "C'mon, man."

Deandre shrugs at them. "It's true, though."

Devin shakes his head. "Hey, Ayton, when you meet the right person, you'll know." Kelly agrees with Devin as they give each other some dap.

Deandre shakes his head at them. "I'm just gonna live the bachelor life, man."

Devin and Kelly laugh at him. "Don't worry, Deandre," Kelly says, patting Deandre's shoulder. "You'll find her soon."

Deandre gives them a dirty look and the other two start laughing at him. "Let's just get back to practice," he says. They continue to laugh at him as they start getting back to practice.

~2:30 PM~

Devin sits on the bench outside the building with a bouquet of pink roses next to him as he waits for Melanie to exit the building. She told him that she was in her psychology class, so she was gonna be a little late since those classes tend to run a little long.

He sees her walk out of the building and stands up with the roses in his hand. He smiles at her as she walks up to him. "Hey," he says, handing her the roses.

She smiles back at him as she takes the bouquet from him. "Hey," she replies. They meet for a quick kiss. "Thank you for the roses."

Devin smiles at her. "Of course, mama," he says, kissing her forehead. He takes her book bag for her as he wraps his arm around her shoulders, and they start walking to his car. "How was your first day?"
