Chapter Twenty-five-The Kardashian Curse

Kelly gives Devin a confused look upon hearing him mumble and follows his gaze, pulling a face that says 'oh shit'. He gives Devin a sad look and pats his shoulder. "Sorry, Book," he says. "But you on your own for this one." Devin holds his arm out as a way of saying 'what the fuck'. 

~End of 1st Quarter; Suns 30-Timberwolves 34~

"And that completes the first quarter!"

Devin goes to his seat and sighs in frustration. He definitely was not playing his best tonight. He had so much on his mind that he was so distracted on the court. D'Angelo and Karl come up to him. He nods at them as a greeting. "'Sup?" he says to them.

They both give him a look. "What's goin' on, Book?" D'Angelo asks.

Karl nods. "Yeah, usually you talkin' shit on everyone, but you been real quiet this whole game," he says.

Devin doesn't say anything and just looks at Melanie across the court, who was now more sad than angry and was being comforted by Rachel and Avery. The other two look at him confused and follow his gaze. They're still confused. "Still doesn't explain why you been quiet," Karl says, D'Angelo nodding in agreement.

Devin gives them a look. "Look four seats to her right," he says. 

D'Angelo and Karl do just that and see Kendall sitting there. They realize why both Devin and Melanie were upset. "Ohhh," they say. Everyone knew what happened, and Devin's gotten some dirty looks from certain fans because of the cheating rumors.

They turn to give him a look. "Yeah, I got nothin'," D'Angelo says, earning a dirty look from Devin. He looks at Karl. "You?"

Karl pulls face and shakes his head. "Sorry, Book," he says, patting his shoulder. "This on you."

"Thanks, guys," Devin says, sarcastically. He sighs sadly as he looks at his girlfriend. At least he hoped she was still his girlfriend. 

~Time Skip After the Game (cuz im lazy)~

The Suns ended up losing to the Timberwolves 101-98, a very close game. Devin was walking out of the locker room and meets up with D'Angelo and Karl. "Yo," Devin says.

They shake it out and start making their way out to their cars. "Aye, we here for another night before we leave tomorrow," D'Angelo says.

Karl nods. "Yeah, Book, wanna kick it tonight?" he asks. 

Devin was about to answer, but as soon as they stepped outside, they see Melanie leaning against Devin's car with a face with mixed emotions. "Oh, she does not look too happy," Karl says.

D'Angelo shakes his head as they look at Melanie. "No, she does not." He looks at Devin. "The Kardashian curse not only went to the Suns, but also your relationship." He earns two punches on his arms from Devin and Karl, and he hisses in pain as he holds the spots they punched.

Devin sighs as he looks at Melanie. "Sorry, guys, but I think it's best if I take care of this before going out with anyone."

They pat his shoulder as they wish him luck. Devin takes a deep breath before walking up to Melanie and touches her arm. He sees that she was trying to hold back tears and smiles sadly at her. "Hey," he says, adjusting the straps of his book bag on his shoulders. She still gives him a dirty look. He sighs desperately. "What's going through that pretty head of yours, mama?"

She takes a deep breath through her nose, which scares Devin a little bit. And that's when she lets it all out, making all the tears start spilling out her eyes. "God, I don't know what to feel right now," she says. "I love you, but I also fucking hate you because of Kendall, and it's eating me alive because I keep thinking I'm not good enough for you and-"

Devin cuts her off as soon as those words come out of her mouth. "Hey, babe," he says to her as he cups her face in his hands. "Where is that coming from?" He wipes her tears away with his thumbs.

Melanie shrugs. "It's just," she stops to take a breath and holds his wrists as she sniffles a little bit, "Before you and I started dating, you dated models before me." He nods at her. "And then, this whole thing about you and Kendall breaks out, and she shows up at the game. I mean, It's Kendall Jenner, ya know? She's a model with her own Reality TV show and is huge in the fashion industry, yet you're hear, listening to a nursing student ramble on-" She gets cut off by Devin placing his lips on hers. She starts kissing him back after a few seconds.

Devin pulls away after a bit and lets go of her face to take her hands in his. "I don't ever wanna hear you say you're not good enough, you hear me?" She nods at him. "I'm telling the truth when I say that nothing happened between me and Kendall. And besides, she's your friend, and she dated a couple of my friends, so there's that." She rolls her eyes at his words and holds back a smile. "And trust me when I say this, mamas. I can be around all these models and Instagram hoes, and I've seen many pretty women in my career. But you?" He starts smirking at her. "Shit, mama, you top all of 'em. You've got something they don't."

Melanie still looks a little sad. "And what's that?"

Devin lets go of one of her hands and reaches up to tuck a piece of her hair behind her ear. "Real beauty." She looks up at him as he smiles at her. "You showed me real beauty. You're beautiful, and on top of that, you're the most gorgeous person I've ever met." He takes both her hands again. "I mean it when I say that." He gives her a look a he sees her trying to hold back a smile. "I know you wanna smile right now." Melanie chuckles and rolls her eyes as she smiles at him.He smiles back at her. "There it is." He sighs. "Do you forgive me?"

Melanie sighs at him. "Yeah," she says. "Just remember, if this happens again, you'll be losing a body part." She glances down to his crotch, making him drop her hands and immediately clutch it in fear.

Devin nods, fear evident in his eyes. "Yes, ma'am."
