Melanie smiles at them. "He likes you, babe."
Devin smiles. "Lemme try something." He leans in to kiss her. He definitely just wanted an excuse to kiss her.
Once his lips touch hers, that's when Chase goes, "No!" They laugh at him as Devin pulls away.
Devin gives him a playful look. "You don't like me, anymore?" Chase just giggles at him.
They all walk out a few minutes later after Melanie brushed her teeth. Devin puts Chase down on the floor. "You wanna walk on your own, buddy?" Chase starts walking to the kitchen.
Since the guest bedroom was on the first floor, it was safe for Chase to walk to his mom on his own. Melanie and Devin walk into the kitchen to see Mia setting up their plates of food. "Morning," they say to her.
Mia smiles at them. "Morning," she replies. "Andrew had to go into the office a few hours ago to help one of the interns, but he'll be back in an hour." Andrew, Mia, and the kids were all attending the game before coming back home to ring in the new year, while Melanie and Devin were going to a club in Downtown that Kyle Kuzma rented out for a private party. The Lakers weren't playing today, so Kyle was able to plan a small New Year's Eve party. Devin and Melanie were headed there at around 10.
Devin nods. "Alright. I gotta be outta here at five, so I'll see you guys when you get there."
They nod, and Jacob comes running into the kitchen. "Mom, can I have a fruit snack, please?"
Mia nods. "Of course, baby." She points at Melanie and Devin. "Did you say 'hi' to Aunty Mimi and Uncle Devin?"
Jacob looks at them before going into the pantry. "Hi, Aunty Mimi and Uncle Devin."
They chuckle at him. "Hi, baby," Melanie says.
Devin smiles at him. "What's up, lil' man?" he says. "I hope you're ready to go to the game tonight."
Jacob gets excited. "Are you gonna win, tonight?"
Devin chuckles. "Well, I can't promise anything, but I will try to win for you, lil' man." And of course, his girlfriend, but that was a given.
They chuckle when he runs back up the stairs to his room after he grabs his fruit snacks. Mia gives them both a cup of coffee. They smile at her. "Thank you," they say.
Mia remembers something. "By the way, I have something to tell you guys."
Devin and Melanie look at her. "What's up?" Melanie asks.
Mia smiles at them. "You're gonna be an aunty again, Mel."
Devin and Melanie get the hint and look excited. "Are you for real?" Devin asks, with a huge smile on his face.
Mia nods, with a smile on her face. "Yeah! Baby number three is on the way!"
Melanie squeals as she gets up to hug her. "Congratulations, Mia!"
Mia laughs at her. "Thank you."
Devin wraps his arms around them both. "This is huge." He squeezes them both, causing them to groan at the sudden squeeze.
"Book, too tight," Mel mumbles.
Devin realizes what he's doing. "Oh, sorry." He lets go of them and smiles apologetically.
~Fast Forward to the Game~
Devin was in the team huddle as they had a quick meeting. Andrew, Mia, Melanie, and the kids were sitting with Jada and her kids, and Frank Kaminsky's girlfriend, Elyse. The kids were playing together and getting to know each other, while the adults (minus Mia) were having a few drinks and watching them.
