Chapter Forty-Nine~Happy Valentine's Day!

Melanie nods. "Another reason for me to not switch to the IUD from the pill."

Nurse Solano chuckles at them. "Sorry, guys, you're free to go. We'll page if we need you."

They walk out to the front desk. "That made one thing clear for me," Melanie says. "I'm telling Devin to NEVER get anything on his body pierced."

Josh was just as shocked as everyone else. "It got caught on her IUD," he says.

Olivia was looking into space. "That has got to be the weirdest case we've worked on." The other two nod at her.

Then, Melanie's phone starts ringing. She pulls it out of her pocket and sees Devin was calling. She answers the call. "Hey, Dev, what's up?" she greets. Her face turns into shock. "What?!" Josh and Olivia look at her. "Now?!.... Okay, I'll page her doctor." She hangs up and grabs her pager.

Olivia looks concerned. "What's going on?" she asks.

Melanie finishes paging Avery's doctor. "Avery went into labor, and Devin is driving her and Schneider here, right now."

Now, it was their turn to be shocked. "Now?!" Josh asked.

Melanie looks flabbergasted. "Yes, now!"

About five minutes later, Devin pulls up and helps Schneider get Avery out of the car. By now, Avery's doctor and nurses were down in the ER.

The three nurses run outside with a wheel chair. "Avery, are you okay?" Melanie asks.

Avery nods. "Yeah, I just need to get this baby out."

Olivia looks at Devin and Schneider as they seat her in the wheel chair. "When was her last contraction?" she asks.

Schneider thinks. "About 10 minutes, ago."

They nod and get her inside, where her doctor was waiting. Melanie looks at Devin. "What happened?" she asks him.

Devin shrugs. "I came home from walking Bruno, and Schneider came busting in saying he needed a ride cuz Avery went into early labor, so I didn't even question it."

Melanie chuckles at him. "Oh, my god, Schneider. Well, she's in good hands. All we have to do is wait." Devin nods as they walk into Avery's room.

~12 Hours Later~

By now, Avery was about ready to push. Melanie, Josh, and Olivia decided to stay after their shift to be there for them. Devin even decided to stay with. Valentine's Day was definitely not going as planned.

Currently, they were all waiting in the waiting room outside of the delivery room. Melanie looks at Devin, who was sitting next to her. "I'm sorry Valentine's Day isn't going as planned," she says.

Devin shakes his head. "It's okay," he replies. "I'm a little upset, but we still got time to make it memorable."

Josh and Olivia groan in disgust. "Yo, we're sittin' right here," Josh says.

Devin shakes his head as Melanie laughs at them. "Ignore them," she says. "We had a very interesting case, today."

"Interesting doesn't begin to describe it," Olivia says.

Devin looks interested. "What happened, today?"

Melanie sighs. "Let me make this clear, right now. You are NOT allowed to get anything on your body pierced."

Devin looks confused. "Okay.. Still not following."

Josh sighs. "A woman came in wit her husband and had an object stuck inside of her."
