Chapter-9

Mona's dad called her, "How is she? Is she doing well?"

"You're daughter is looking like a cheetah right now. Don't worry, she can handle herself"

"Of course, whom did she take after"

"Me" Swala nodded.

"You wish. She is my carbon copy" Mona's dad retorted.

"I don't think so"

"Fine. Bye. Have your lunch. Take care of her and yourself too."

"Bye"

The unit commander's car entered the area and everyone was alerted. All the cadets took their stands in a single row on both sides of the car. From the moment he got out of the car, cadets marched in front of him.

He strode directly towards the Flag and the national anthem started playing. All the cadets saluted the flag while the commander hoisted it. As soon as the flag unfurled the officer gave the command of 'present arms'.

A group that was previously selected and trained for it, started the drill. Ava and Mona were in the first row holding their 4kg weighing rifles. They elegantly completed it and returned to their positions. 🫡

Certificate distribution started. Mona's batch still had time. So they sneaked back and started having fun. They spun the bottle, pulling out all the truths everyone had been hiding.

A boy was wandering around, trying to grab their attention. He caught Mona's eyes, she scanned him for a while. The moment she realised, she nudged Ava and whispered "Isn't he the boy from the camp, who prop-"

She got cut "Stop it."

"I am right then. He has been trying to get your attention sissy. Come onn" Mona giggled, teasing Ava.

She received a shu from Ava. "He is getting on my nerves. He kept stalking me. I am gonna throw him into the ocean if he bothers me further," Ava raged with fire.

"Is he making you uncomfortable?" Mona asked. Ava gave a little nod.

"Why don't you go and talk to him directly. Ask him to pick up his shit and leave" Mona blindly declared it.

Ava was completely taken back for a second, "Not bad. You grew up a lot from the time we met", she said.

"Ofcouse"

"I will. Let this ceremony end," Ava said, for which Mona patted her with a proud look as if she was the older one. Ava gave her an annoying side eye but ended up chuckling.

They heard their batch names causing a buzz in the crowd. So they went back to their places and found out that they were next up. They checked their uniforms for the last time. In a blink, their names were called out.

They marched towards the centre one by one as per their names. First, the C certificate holders were called. Later B. So first Ava took her certificate and later Mona. Swala kept clicking her pics and recording things from the time her name was called till she returned to her spot, smile never leaving her lips.☺️

After the completion of the distributions, the commander took the mike. He didn't need one, his voice was already a whole speaker in itself. He asked for a list and called out a few names not more than 5. Mona's name was called as well. Those 5 members reached him, and he handed each of them a book, congratulating them with a nod. "Clap for them. These guys passed with A's" he said in his commanding tone.

The whole place resonated with cheers and claps. Mona was shocked at first when she heard her name. After knowing the reason, she checked her certificate and that's when she noticed the A she got.
