"It's the thirty fourth one", Jesvi whispers, eyeing the girl with blond hair.

"Huh?"

"It's the thirty fourth proposal he got from the day these interschool competitions started. Take a stand girl."

Mona just smiled. "As long as his eyes are searching for me in the crowd every time a girl approaches him, there is no need for me to react." She revelled in it. "Nishan received the same number, why don't you do something?"

"Ha...Ha...Ha...he is already taken. But Saish? He isn't."

"He didn't even look at the faces of the girls who approached him Jes. He knows very well that I will murder him if he does. It may not be official, but still, he is mine" Mona winked at her, as playful as always.

"Well, I think he should be the one feeling threatened" Sunaira nudged Mona's arm.

Mona turned to her and saw where her eyes were pointing at. And she grimaced. "Not him again."

"Your bad luck he is coming towards you" Jesvi suppressed her laugh.

"He is like a leech. He doesn't have the guts to say it on my face so I can end it then and there. But he keeps bugging me, talking nonsense," Mona facepalmed. "He spoke about the weather for 20 minutes the day before, and I avoided him like the plague the whole yesterday." 😬

"Some bulbs take time to light up. He is one of the bulbs," Jesvi passed on a polite smile as the guy was looking in their direction.

Sunaira just rolled her eyes. "I will get going. The results of the poetry competition will be announced in a while. All the best with the match and also this...guy."

"Thank you", Mona's and Jesvi's voices synced.

"Hey! It's been a while. I searched for you yesterday, but I couldn't find you. How have you been" the guy from the discussion approached them.

Mona smiled awkwardly while Jesvi looked away.

"Uh, actually we are next to play. Will catch you later. Good luck with your game" Mona dragged Jesvi with her.

The boy looked disappointed but nodded anyway. "Good luck to you too."

"Why avoid him? He is too handsome" Jesvi pulls her leg.

"Didn't you just two minutes ago reminded of Saish? And also, I should go tell Nishan you are crushing on someone else" Mona narrowed her eyes with a sly smile. 😼

"Don't. I was just kidding. I don't want him pestering me with questions like, you don't love me anymore? Did I do something wrong?" Jesvi pleaded.

Mona grinned. "He is such a cutie. I would fight the world to see Saish say something like that." Though it was meant to be a joke, she was uncertain that the day would ever come.

They need a very strong blow towards each other to open up.

"Gear up babes, we need to ace it" Jesvi wrapped her arms around Mona.

"Always, on it", Mona replied with a smirk.

They rushed to the changing rooms, to get into their sports uniform from their regular ones. All ready to win the quarter-finals of the girl's basketball. They are placed against one of their fierce competitors. But if they don't win them over, there is no chance they will win the finals over their forever rivals. Last year, the other team won the final cup; this year, Mona and Jesvi were determined to win it back.

"It's a new team, but so far their matches were fierce and strong. They are good defenders. We need to be swift if we ever were to make the basket" Jesvi was briefing their team about their strategy of the game, coach by her side. She is always actively involved in studying the teams and coming up with the best and quickest strategies. The reason why she was the Sports Captain. "Ready girls? Who is going to win this ?" She hyped everyone up. They did that thing sports teams do, putting palms in the centre and shouting 'Us'. ✊️
