Chapter-20

"It was just yesterday you two were ready to throw hands and cut ties with each other. What is this now?" Nishan asked rubbing his head.

"That happens every time we have an exam and we are stressed, so why even bother about it?" Mona asked the obvious. It's like a weekly story, so why mind it?

"Shall we go to the river today?" Nishan asked.

Before anyone could answer that question, the two keystones shined. One, was in the Saish's pocket, while the other was on Mona's neck. They all could see only Mona's.

"Wow, this is my first time seeing a shining locket. It looks beautiful Mona. Where did you get it?" Sunaira asked.

Mona, at first, was puzzled. What shine? But when she looked at her locket she understood.

"I don't know. My... late grand-ma gave it to me. Be-before she passed away. Ya- ya. Ha-hahaha. I want to go to the washroom, bye"😅 she started walking towards the washroom, after shuttering and uttering broken words.

But suddenly turned back and walked back to them in two long steps. Pulled Saish with her.

"Hey! Didn't you say you were going to the washroom" Jesvi asked.

"Y-ya"

"So, you are taking him to the washroom?"

"What?" Mona asked perplexed.

Jesvi just raised her eyebrows and shifted her eyes to their hands.

Mona followed Jesvi's eyes and found her holding Saish's wrist. "S-shit....No. I am taking him f-for, for.... Oh y-ya, mam called him. I forgot to tell you. Yaaaaaa" 😬Mona quickly walked from there, still not letting go of his hand.

"What's wrong with her today? She is behaving nuts" Jesvi just shook her head in annoyance.

"Not her mistake. She is friends with a psychiatrist patient," Nishan said, shrugging his hands, leading to him getting another smack.

On the other hand, the two who rushed from there found a no-cctv spot to disappear from the planet Earth. The moment they stepped onto Planet of Extinct, they were welcomed with an unexpected announcement from Blue. They were just getting fit into that complex world and were just finding some fun init, but the news just shook them from the roots.

"The thing is, we aren't able to keep up. The power is too much for us. We are getting old. So, we decided we would retire a bit early. That's after 4 days. Just informing you prior so you can make up your mind" Blue said.

Mona and Saish's thoughts got complicated. Whirled. They were happy about the morning incident but this news left no traces of the happiness anymore.

They are about to lose their mentors once and for all? And the news was so sudden. They didn't have much time to come to terms with the reality, they had only four days. What are they supposed to do? How are they supposed to find answers without their teachers?

"Aww, babies. It's fine. You will be fine" Green pulled them into a bone-cracking hug.

They didn't react much. They didn't even hug her back. They were still. Self-doubt, insecurities, hesitation and contemplating were all they had in them.

"You are going to do great. I know you" Green patted their backs.

'How? HOW!!' Mona's mind screamed. "You just will " Green answered to her thought.

"Go back now. That's all we wanted to say," Blue said, walking away from there after giving a slight smile. 🙂 Green followed him.

The two teenagers were left alone. They just stared at them vanishing into thin air.

For the first time, Saish hands shivered. They became all sweaty and he didn't even realise it.

Mona looked down with the slight jerky movements. Saw his palms shaking. She held them. She held them tight. Looking at him with the most comforting emotion displayed on his face. She was scared, angry and confused, too, but the urge to reassure him as fast as she could outweigh any of her own worries.

Saish eyes were locked in the direction Green and Blue left but his head turned towards Mona. Two seconds later his eyes turned too, meeting his safe place.

"Mona," he said. He said just that and gazed at her, anxious.

"Let's go back. Shall we?"

"I am just so glad that I still have you," Saish said. "Just imagining having someone else as my partner instead of you shakes me to the core. Adjusting to her would have taken at least an eternity. On top of that, Blue was retiring."

"Without you, this news would have been a much bigger catastrophe to me too. But with you here I think I can manage. Have been doing it for years now. I am used to working together, so this doesn't seem that scary anymore" Mona smiled. Genuinely happy to have him.

Even though she knew she was panicking and would keep panicking, she didn't bulge as she had him.

"You are my strength and capability, so don't fall apart."
