They immediately got on their feet. Running in a particular direction their gut told them to. Whenever they were confused about the route to find the tree, a new image popped into their mind. Leading them to their destination.
They ran. They kept running. Seconds changed to minutes, minutes turned to hours. They almost climbed a mountain, when they finally found it. The tree from their mind. It was there.
"This is it. The first creature to get extinct," Mona said, panting, but she had a smile on her face.
Saish slowly, carefully walked towards it and placed his palm on the trunk. The leaves and branches started moving, as though they were saying hello to him. He looked at how huge it was. His palm was like an ant on its bark.
"Hey there," Mona said walking to it. Leaves moved faster, greeting her back.
"She will be a perfect minister" Saish stated.
Mona raised a brow with a little half-smirk. "How do you know?"
"I just can feel it"
"This is exactly why you should listen to the young lady behind you. She is smart and sensible, you know?"
"I always listen to her. Always," he said with gentle firmness looking straight into her eyes, making every word of the sentence pierce into the veins and arteries.
Her heart skipped a beat. She didn't expect him to react like that. She thought he would laugh it out. After all, it was a joke she made. But no, that day Saish woke up from sleep and chose violence. 🦋
She made an embarrassed face "That's a joke"
He just smiled at her.
'What's wrong with him today? Why is he doing things that can just melt me on the spot? Is he watching some dramas for flirting lessons?! Picking me up out of nowhere, saying he will always listen to me? Omg. He is driving me nuts' Her thoughts whirled like a hurricane.
"Let's make her our minister, Purple"
"Let's do that,", she said, still her cheeks red. Nowadays, her cheeks are always red.
They held their keystones in their hand, put their palms on the trunk of the tree, and said, "We choose you," synchronized.
In no time the tree was surrounded by sparkles of purple and gold colour, representing their colours. Two small slits opened on the trunk. They later turned into the shape of eyes. Later a mouth was formed on the bark.
A face was sculpted right in front of their eyes. Before they could process what was happening, the tree spoke.
"It's an honour to meet you, Saviours", pause, "I am Zoe" It looked a bit taken aback seeing them. It stared at the colour of their keystones.
Mona and Saish were standstill. If not their breaths, they looked mummified. This planet was undeniably out of understanding capability. The most absurd things keep happening as frequently as having breakfast.
"I never imagined it would start talking", Saish whispered, still staring at the tree with a beyond-belief look.
Mona nodded rapidly her mouth hanging open. "What in the world is this?"
"I-I never thought I would meet them again together", Zoe said.
"What?" Mona questioned.
"Your powers. They never were activated after the first saviours of the planet" It looked a bit sad by the end of the sentence.
"We are aware of that" Saish replied.
"I was the minister for them as well. I thought it would be my first and last but I guess I am wrong. Whenever these powers are coming to life, I am as well," Zoe stated. 🙂
