"All around this one area." Stark said, circling his finger on a map, repeating Lori's words yesterday. You hummed and nodded, mumbling, "They said they checked around too..." "Let's check it all again," Rogers said, "They're sure to have missed something." "Yes, let's." You agreed, looking up and to the other two. "Right," Rogers started, explaining where each of us would go. "We're going to split up? When there's this kidnapper around?" Stark asked. "We're not kids." Rogers answered. "Y/N looks pretty young though, let's be honest." Roger's nodded, "But, it's nothing she can't handle." And the three of you left for your destinations.
After a few moments, you reached a small, run down, set of flats. As you looked along it, to the top, you walked through the missing door. Scanning the area, you looked at the damaged walls and desks.
Humming with a sigh, you decided to have a look in one of the rooms; changing into your Asgardian outfit for comfort. While you took your time looking in that first room, you wondered if this skirt was really necessary. On Asgard, this would be normal but you hadn't been there for over 5 years — and it wasn't exactly there anymore. You pulled at the skirt, taking it off; now it was just trousers and a top. You felt more able to run — better. Free. Moving your hands over it, you sent it back to your room.
You looked back up from your hands, suddenly feeling your chest tense and your forehead grow warm. You swallowed hard, wondering why, and continued to search. Knowing you were alone, you still couldn't shake the feeling that someone was watching; making you sick to the stomach. Moving swiftly, you exited the room and headed for the next.
Holding your bare neck, running your hand up and down it for a moment, you looked to the boarded up windows. Hand dropping to your side, your eyebrows furrowed as you made your way around the room — looking at various things — before getting to the windows, last. You ran your finger down the sides, where they were cut, and wondered who and why. The last room's windows were fine. Looking along the floor, you looked for something to give you a hint or an answer; nothing. Leaving uncomfortably, you wiped your warmer face, and headed for the next few.
Moments after, of checking rooms, thoroughly, your heart began to pound against your ribcage. Each footstep matched up with the sound of the beating of your heart. Slow, loud and the only sound for, what seemed like, miles.
