Unfiltered // Loki x Reader

"I feel like we haven't had a mission like this for years..." You smiled, walking over to Natasha. "That's because it has been years," She raised an eyebrow with a little smile. It was one of those small missions where the police needed some extra help so you were called in. They were usually easy, but gave you something to do - something other than being a mother.

Walking back to the tower, the sun had almost set. The sky was exploding silently with hues of oranges, purples and pinks. "Something just doesn't feel right," You muttered. "Why's that?" With a sigh, you explained, "It feels like there's supposed to be something more. I just feel like something's going to go wrong again. Like it did before." "Y/N, you're just being anxious. Relax, things are going to be okay. Trust me. I'm always going to be around to help." With hesitation, you corrected her, "But you won't. We live for many more years than you. What's going to happen then? Will there be a new set of Avengers? How many sets will I have to go through?" "It doesn't matter. We're here, right now, doing our thing. When the time comes, it comes, Y/N. At least we spent the time that we could together well. That goes for not just me but the rest of them too. I'm sure it's something Tony must've thought about more than once, just like the rest of us. You'll be alright." She reassured you.

The rest of the walk was in a comfortable silence. When you reached the tower, emotions inside you felt storm-like. You looked at everyone's faces and couldn't help but repeat the memories and attachment that you'd created with them. They all meant so much to you. You could've sworn you let a tear escape, but nothing ran down your cheek. Because Loki swiped it away. You sighed shakily. "Oh wow," You looked around the room, everyone was there, even Fury was here, "I love you all so much." You rubbed your hands on your thighs, breathing in and out in a steady way to avoid tears.

"Are you okay?" As soon as Tony asked, you burst out into tears. You couldn't help it, you didn't even know what it was. You just suddenly felt so emotional and so scared. You squatted down, crying, for a reason that felt almost unknown to you.

"I swear that this is not normal for her," You heard Fury check with the rest of them. Loki then gave Arthur to Bruce to hold and kneeled down beside you. "It's okay," He hugged you. He knew what was happening. You'd had this conversation with him the night before, when the emotions first really started to kick in. You just really cared. You really appreciated everyone and you didn't understand how to express it, you were afraid that you would never be able to.

After being comforted, you tried explaining it to everyone. They had finally got the idea of it. "We all care and love you just the same, Y/N. Some more than others," He looked to Loki, "But these things happen, well, in this situation. I'm glad I'm your favourite." Tony ended his mini speech. You chuckled a bit, feeling a little silly. "Ah, I'm so sorry... that was so stupid of me..." "It wasn't, it's nice to know we mean that much to you, even if it did take a few hours to get you to stop crying," Clint chuckled. You laughed with everyone else, overing your face.

You smiled sadly. "I love you all so, so, much."

A/N: This is the end of the book! I would create a dramatic death or huge plot twist but it wasn't right. Their lives will carry on far past the book. I wanted to make this a little more emotional just because I feel like the attachment between you as a character and the rest of the team is so much bigger than what I feel like I've been able to show. Writing this book has been amazing and I've loved working on it so much. It's the biggest book I've written to date and I am so proud of where it's got to. Thank you to everyone who has been on this journey with me, whether you were reading it while I wrote it or whether you're reading it a lot after it's completed.
