"Ah, there she is! Come meet her, Geralt." I heard Jaskier say as soon as I stood behind the bar. Jaskier was coming my way as he smiled as usual with his lute still on his back. I wonder why he is not holding it like usual. "Eve... - he had not come with me, didn't he?" he asked as he didn't look back, he interrupted himself midway. I assumed he meant the Witcher so I shook my head no. "Then you must come and meet him. Come." The next thing was the door being shut, loudly. "And he's gone. I'm sorry, you'll get your chance in meeting him, don't worry." He was talking like I was after him when in reality I didn't even know this man he was always talking about. I mean if somebody is after him then it must be Jaskier, he even wrote a song only about him.

I chuckled "Calm down, Jaskier. I'm not that keen on meeting a man whose only interest lies in monsters and coin." Now it was his turn in chuckling. "Well, but I damn well know someone whose interests are quite similar." he told me and took a sip from the cup of ale he had in his hand. I dryly laughed. "I'm not interested in monsters, thank you." I told him and he just crossed his arms in front of his chest. "Only this morning you couldn't stop talking about these drowned dead down at the fishermen's place." he sounded kind of superior and also had that smug smile on his face.

"Anyway, Eve. Since we're talking about you being keen on a man." he started where I began to groan and roll my eyes at what his grin only grew. "I'm sure your father thinks so as well, I mean look at you-" I interrupted him and pointed with my index finger on him. "I dare you." he laughed. "You're a good looking girl far above the age of marriage. You should've married years ago." I, again, rolled with my eyes and went on to serve the next customer, sitting a few chairs next to Jaskier. "For your information, I still got a year." I sassed and walked back to the bar. "Hey, hey. It wasn't meant as an insult. Hey, see I'm sorry." he started apologizing and ran after me and now stood right behind the man that has just gotten his beer.

"Okay, then turn this into a compliment, into a song, I don't know, you're the bard, not me." He got his Lute and played a few notes. "A barmaid far too old" I crossed my arms in front of my chest and mouthed 'What did I just tell you?'. "I wonder why this lass wasn't taken five years ago." Okay, now he turned it into a compliment. "I bet a hundred men would fight against an army of Nilfgaardians or even thousands of elves for such a fine match."

"Okay, okay I understand." I told him so he would stop his cheesy song. "Oh no no no! You wanted me to sing you a song, now I do." Oh no, this is going to be embarrassing. So he continued his song. "Give a man to this lass, O' valley of men, O' valley of men." he copied his older song. "It's enough." a man growled who wanted to drink his beer in peace. Jaskier was obviously scared and instantly stopped his singing and playing the lute, which resulted in a wrong tone.

"I'll be off. Just- just checking on Geralt. I'll be right back." he told me and went out of the tavern. I just sighed and shrugged it off as if nothing happened.

A few minutes later the door swung open again revealing Jaskier and a tall man with broad shoulders. He had white hair and goldish eyes. He was a handsome man, I give him that. Even my heart jumped a little because of that man. They came towards the bar, where I was standing. Obviously no coincidence. "Geralt, meet my good friend Evelyn. Evelyn this is Geralt of Rivia, the butcher of Blaviken, the white wolf." He introduced the Witcher. "Lovely." I just said with a grin as I kept my glance at Geralt. My eyes not leaving the Witcher. "Ah, I see love at fir-" Geralt punched him slightly with his elbow for what Jaskier just growled in pain. "Okay, okay, I'll stop." He sat next to Geralt. I held up a jug full of beer, asking him by that if he wanted some. He simply nodded by what I got him a mug and poured him some of the alcoholic liquid. Again he nodded and started drinking from the mug.

"I see, you're a man of few words." As an answer, he only gave a deep "Hmmh." Oh, that deep voice. Suited him. Handsome man with a handsome voice. "Eve?" Jaskier asked and I realized that I was starring at the Witcher. Quickly I stopped and glanced over at Jaskier who had a smug grin on his face. I laughed and punched playfully against gis shoulder. He started laughing as well. "What was that for?" he asked as I left to the room behind the bar. I looked over at my shoulder and gave him that same smug grin he gave me before. "Get that grin out of your face. I know what you're thinking." I told him and received a confused look by him and an amused one by the Witcher.

From the room behind I got the ordered food and brought it to a group of men sitting at a table by the window. As I placed the plates down they did not only looked hungry at their food but gave me the same glance. "Hey, missy. I've heard from that bard over there that you're still free. So there would be nobody to save you if I'd fuck you later behind this tavern." he said and his friends laughed along with him. I gave him a disgusted look. "Ew. Not in a hundred years. I don't even know if a goat would let you fuck it." I told him and went off but that man grabbed my wrist. "Listen-"

"Ah, I'm sorry, you must have misunderstood my song, gentlemen." Jaskier showed up and tried to somehow help me. I yanked my wrist out of his grip. "As if, we'll see, bard. We'll see." The man said as Jaskier and I went off. "Thanks, you really saved me back there." I told my friend sarcastically but he didn't get it. "Ah, no problem, Eve."
