The next day it was a bright and sunny one. Perfect for the last contest which took place inside a fighting arena where usually knights would fight monsters to please the noblemen and, of course, the Duchess and the Duke. Speaking of which. Jaskier and her were busy with each other as she was oh so charmed by the bard's sweet words and his lovely attitude towards her. She couldn't get herself away from him and so was Jaskier, he couldn't get away from her, what caused that in the past days neither Evelyn or Geralt saw him. Geralt didn't mind a few days off of Jaskier but Evelyn was worried when she was not focused on Geralt's performance. It only got to her mind from time to time that her friend was not with her but shrugged it off. He's an adult and should be able to mind his own business... Or so she thought.

"I know now the two teams rosters. I shall be the captain of ours. That means you shall do as I say for the duration of the fight. Is that clear?" Anséis announced as he got to his four team comrades. One of them was Geralt. "Palmerin de Launfal will lead the opposing team. With his skirmish we commemorate the Battle of Fox Hallow of 1218, when a hanse of southern outlaws led by Hallar the Brown attacked Toussaint only to be driven off by brave knights, thus setting a precedent. Since that day knights-errant have guarded the duchy's borders. Palmerin drew the short straw, so his team shall play the barbarian Hallars men. Any questions?" he took his team members off to a history lesson about the fight in 1218.

Geralt answered for the group, as nobody said anything. "None." Anséis put his hands on his hips. "I doubt you will do us any good. You know nothing of knightly combat as a Witcher. Try as least to stay out of our way. It's time, gentlemen. Take your weapons and proceed to the arena." Anséis continued and all four of them went into the arena without saying any further words. The gate opened for them and they were shown to the crowd in which also Evelyn sat. Hers and Geralt's eyes met for a second.

"A cheer for the knights, the ladies, the lords! For our next entertainment, the teams shall cross swords!" The crowd cheered as asked. Evelyn clapped her hands to cheer for her brother and of course, for Geralt. The women around her gave her annoyed and confused looks, since she didn't wore a dress but the same black leathery pants as always and her dark red blouse. Her swords she had to leave for the tourney at the tent.

"Two rival crews, two coteries, shall fight, full tilt, till one's dropped to its knees. Who virtue ignores or lands blows unclean, shall forever be branded as shameful, obscene." The bard announced and the knights of Geralt's team all drew the swords and held them across their chest, the tip of it being held in the air. Then they presented them to the crowd as some sort of bowing before them. "While the knights prepare, let me say I'm elated, to behold such a crowd, on edge, breath bated. Whoever here wins the best champion shall face - all others must leave, heads bowed in disgrace."

"Let us begin! Crowd, raise a ruckus! Blood, sweat and tears shall soon follow in buckets!" The bard said as a signal to begin. The knights drew their swords and some their shields. Every knight fought against another. Geralt was against the leader of the opposite team: the bald Knight Palmerin de Launfal who tried to lunge his sword at him but Geralt blocked and hit the knight successfully with his sword. Another knight, with a spear, went at him since one of Geralt's team comrades was defeated. Geralt got hit at his leg but didn't bother to let this get through him. With a strong strike, he defeated the knight with the spear who now laid on the ground.

Just moments after four knights were at Geralt. All his teammates being defeated he had to face the rest on his own but as an experienced Witcher, he knew how to deal with that. He turned around for them thinking of letting the guard down and then striking one of them bringing him to his knees. Then he separated one of the knights and could easily block his hits and then get him down, being defeated. Two left. One of them lunged carelessly at Geralt. His hits were sloppy and now more focused on just brutally trying to defeat Geralt so his team would win. Like that his guard was down, he thought better of himself than he was. One hit at his shoulder and he was defeated as well. Only Palmerin de Launfal being left.

Palmerin went at his opponent who blocked his attack with his gloved hand against the armoured chest of the other. That got him out of balance and he fell. Like that a strong hit Palmerin got against his leg. He hissed but got up on his feet, trying to hit Geralt what worked. It was a small cut on his left arm. One last hit and Palmerin went to the ground, bending on one knee like the others to signal that they've been defeated. Geralt as the last knight standing won the contest for his team.

"The worlds never seen a fight quite so glorious! For showing such verve, each knight was victorious! Yet in tourneys as in life, but the champion may reign. Today he is the one! Praised be his name! He felled a whole host, slew the most - To Geralt of Rivia, who the strength of lions boasts! He sailed through all trials, each test he passed with ease, but now awaits the last - will it bring him to his knees? For Gregoire de Gorgon, who on this ground last won, shall spar him for the title, here the day is done. To the tired reminder, we salute your endeavours! Return to your wives your loves, your whomever's!"
