Evelyn's pov
"What about Skellige then?" I asked Geralt as we sat at a table with a map in front of us and a list next to it. "A bit far for such a thing don't you think?" Geralt asked back leaning his hand under his chin. "Yeah, but they're the cheapest there and I've never been in Skellige." I smiled with puppy eyes at him. "Alright, you know I cannot say no when you pull that face." he said and put a hand on my chin and cheek. "We'll get you those black pearls. Anyway, you've never been to Skellige? Then we should definitely change that!" Geralt said, placing a kiss on the top of my nose. "We shall leave tomorrow at sunrise and make our way to the harbour."
And so we did, yawning I rubbed my eyes while we were near the harbour. We were in Oxenfurt where a ship would sail twice a day, in the morning and in the evening. I could hear the seagulls flying above us, fighting over a fish one just caught. The sails were to be seen through the many buildings, bells were heard and merchants offering their goods for 'low' prices. Pretty high but still rather cheap in comparison to the rest of Oxenfurt. Especially around the academy things get pretty expensive, but I guess people attending the academy can afford it. Bards were staying at every corner, their music being mixed a little. It sounded good but not as good as Jaskiers music. Maybe I should tell him about this academy, he could improve his already magnificent playstyle and become Master Julian Alfred Pankratz.
Amber and Roach stayed at the tavern we were at. There they would receive food, water and a warm place to stay for the night. Because of that, we made our way towards the harbour on foot. Walking was now a little complicated... I worked on my outfit a little and thought that when we would be most of the time on a ship, I could wear some heels, knee-high boots with heels around 10 centimetres tall. I was used to heels not that tall but they looked so pretty and then I had to buy them. I could walk in them but not for long, but I guess I'll adapt to them soon. Holding balance wasn't the problem but the pain in my toes grew with every step. Luckily I brought another pair with me so I could change them after we arrived in Skellige so I can walk longer routes.
We arrived at the harbour and looked around and saw a grand ship to which lead a footbridge above which was a sign that got written 'Skellige' on it. We walked towards the man who was sitting on a barrel with a pipe in his mouth. On his head was a large hat with a feather being attached to the side. "Are you the Captain?" Geralt asked the man who then looked up, pushing his hat a little aside to get a proper look. "Aye." he confirmed and stood up from the barrel and took out his pipe. "What can I do for ye, landlubbers?" he asked with a little grin on his face which was decorated by a stubbly beard around his chin. "To Skellige?" he asked another question and we both simply nodded. "Aye, that makes 75 crowns each." he stated and put his hands on his hips. Geralt pulled out a bag with coin and handed it to the Captain of the ship. "Alright, welcome on me ship, 'The Troubadour'. Me name's Captain Guthlaf Teague. We'll set sail in an hour. Don't worry, old salt Teague will bring ye over to Skellige, savvy?" he said and gestured to his ship for us to go on it.
It was a little shaky from the little waves underneath the ship. We headed over to the railing and sat on a bench. Next to it was a bucket with water and a rag was hanging on its edge reaching into the water a little. "We still got so much to do." I sighed and threw my head back. "Find a place, organize food and drinks, ugh- we have to send out invitations." I said and closed my eyes. "We'll manage, doesn't have to be anything big. I could even marry you on the spot." Geralt said and I opened my eyes again and chuckled a little. "Without Jaskier? Who's then catching my bouquet?" I asked and snorted a little and Geralt nodded. "But if you change your mind, just know that a Captain of a ship is allowed to marry people." I hit him slightly on the shoulder. "Something big must happen for that to happen."
"All hand hoy!" Captain Teague yelled and went on board. The sails got set, a big white greyish one being pushed by the wind. The crew members went under deck and the Captain of course behind the steering wheel, near Geralt and me. "Oi, you two, what's your purpose in Skellige?" He asked us as he turned around when the ship was safely out of the harbour. "Getting some pearls." I stated and he raised his brows. "What for?" he seemed like a quite curious man. "Our wedding." Geralt answered this time and the Captain's eyes widen. "Blimey! That I'll ever see a Witcher that'll marry." He put a hand on his forehead. "A Witcher? A wedding of two Witchers." I corrected the man and he looked at me with a tilted head. "Ye ain't running a ring on me?" he asked surprised and now I tilted my head? "Am I what?" I asked and he started laughing. "Me Love it means joking." Guthlaf helped me out and I nodded understanding and then laughed. "No, certainly not."
"Bring the spring upon 'er!" Teague yelled towards the sailors standing at the railing to change the direction of the sails. I guess he said that we should change directions but sailors slang stays a tongue for itself, which I'll probably never really get to. "Sail ho!" a young boy in the crow's nest shouted. At the horizon, a ship was seen, with black flags. After it was two more ships following. "Pirates!" the same boy shouted, rushing down the crow's nest.
