"Mind the scree falling, hear me? Can get a bit rocky around here if it's windy. Which it is." Yarpen explained and the group reached the edge of the mountain, wind howling around them. At the edge of the mountain was a very small path made out of wooden planks that lead directly onto the other side. The only thing to hold on was a low hanging iron chain on the wall. Under the boards was nothing, they were simply attached to the rocks with no security in them not breaking if one, who's not a dwarf, would walk over it.

"Yeah, you're right, this is a shortcut... to death." Jaskier said holding onto the rock wall and trying to look a little over the edge. "You wanna beat those Reavers or not?" Yarpen asked. "We should turn back." Geralt said while he held onto Evelyns hand. "No. We're very close." Borch disagreed, "How can you possibly know that?" Jaskier asked surprised. "This a perfectly fine route." Yarpen said while looking at the path. "For a dwarf." Yennefer added. "Stifle your mewling. You'll manage. As long as you don't look down." The dwarf laughed and hit Jaskier. "See you on the other side." Yarpen said as he stepped onto the boards and started walking. Under the feet of the dwarfs, the boards threw dust from underneath. It was blown away by the wind. "Uh, ladies first." he said and looked at Yennefer who then pushed him a little. "Ah, alright. Come in, Jask. You've got this." The bard mumbled to himself. After him, Yennefer went then Evelyn and Geralt and at last, was Borch with his two companions.

Everyone grabbed tight onto the chains on the wall trying to not look down. Jaskier stepped a little too much on his left and hung with one foot in the air. "Oh, fuck!" he shouted as he quickly brought his foot back up, watching a few pieces of wood fall down. "Oh, that is not a good sign." he said and kept walking with his hands shaking.

The boards kept creaking and everyone stayed silent, focusing on their next step to not fall into death. But that couldn't be avoided. Three boards fell from their halt in the rock wall along them fell Borch, Téa and Véa. Borch barely managed to get a hold on that iron chain while the two women held themselves at Borch. Geralt got a tight grip around the iron chain in order to prevent it to rip so he could save them from falling. "Geralt!" Evelyn exclaimed reaching over to him. "Get back, you'll fall!" he warned her to not get near. "Sir Witcher, you will save us yet. But first, you must let go." Borch said but Geralt refused to and only held tighter onto the chain. One of the planks broke in, making Geralt's foot hang almost loose above it. "Geralt! The planks won't hold!" Evelyn said worry filled her voice. "Thank you." Borch said and then suddenly he let go of the chain letting himself fall into the fog, Téa and Véa following him. Geralt still kneeled and watched the three fall. Without them, they had to continue their journey.

As the sun was setting they made a camp not far from the dragon's lair. Here they would stay for the night and whoever wakes up first to go for the dragon wins the title lord of a soon-to-be-vassal-state. Geralt sat on a rock looking at the scenery in front of him, thinking he could've saved Borch and the two women. He thought bad about himself and his actions. Jaskier approached him and then took a seat next to him, silently being there for him. Scratch that, he wasn't silent anymore. "You did your best. There's nothing else you could have done. Look, why don't we leave tomorrow? That is if you'll give me another chance to prove myself a worthy travel companion." Geralt laughed a little without making a noise. "You're worthy enough. Evelyn enjoys your company and she loves your singing. I love seeing her so happy and peaceful whenever you sing." Geralt said not looking at Jaskier but his gaze was stiff onto the mountains. "So you like my singing after all?" Jaskier asked excitedly. "In some kind of way." he shrugged.

"We could head to the coast. Get away for a while. You and Evelyn could have your long-awaited marriage. Life is too short, Geralt. You shouldn't wait as long in marrying her as it took you to propose to her. Do what pleases you and Evelyn... while both of you can." the bard said dramatically and sighed at the end. "Composing your next song?" Geralt asked because it really sounded like it. "No, I'm just, uh, just trying to work out what pleases me.

Geralt sighed and got up. "Guess I'm going to do what pleases me." He said and walked off. "And what are you exactly going to do?" Jaskier asked and turned to see where the Witcher is going. "Evelyn." he simply answered without giving the bard a single look. The two of them shared a small tent, unusual but Evelyn thought a little bit of extra comfort wouldn't harm and she was right. Not being exposed to rain or wind was a better way to sleep. Geralt went inside the tent and saw Evelyn preparing the blankets on the ground where they would sleep. She noticed Geralt and looked smilingly at him. "Do you like it?" she asked about the tent which looked very cozy and comfortable.

The female Witcher got to her feet going over to Geralt and placing a loving kiss on his lips which of course he returned. "You're here early, already tired?" she asked her fiancé and stayed in his embrace. "I came for you. Jaskier said I should do what pleases me." he smirked at her which she returned. "I was afraid that mountain would take you from me." she whispered while he brought his forehead against hers. Leaning against each other they enjoyed this moment just for themselves. "May I do then what pleases me?" Geralt asked his lover looking her in the eyes. She bit her lower lip and started to kiss him lovingly, passionately.
