Geralt helped to inform everyone to lock themselves up in a room and not leaving it until the night's over. Panic started to spread all over the castle and luckily I wasn't the one who had to tell my parents; Geralt did that for me. I don't want them locking me up because I'm going to help Geralt but he doesn't know yet.

The sun was setting and everyone was in their room except Geralt and me. "Geralt!" I called him and he turned at me with a mad expression. "Evelyn, get back to your room." He growled and looked concerned at me. "No, I'm going to help you." I said and clenched my fist around my pendant. "No, you won't. A Katakan's way too dangerous. It's an intelligent vampire. Even Witchers barely accept such requests. I won't be able to protect you." I stepped closer to him and shook my head. "You won't have to. Also who even needs to, Geralt?" I saw that his face softened for a second but he shrugged it off. "I'm sorry, Evelyn." he said and formed a small glowing ball in his hands and I felt sleepy all of a sudden.

Geralt's pov

I had to put her to sleep with Axii so she wouldn't get in danger by her stubbornness. I threw her over my shoulder and carried her to her room. There I put her on her bed and locked the door from outside. Now I can only hope for her to not break down the door. I went back to the said corridor and I kept wondering who locked the thing up in there, I must ask Meve about this after I killed it.

Before I made any move on the door I got a potion from my belt and drank it. It was cat so I could see that son of a bitch better in the dark. To add some extra damage to my weapon I poured vampire oil over it. I tried to open the door with force but the door was way too solid so I had to use Aard. I looked around and saw several bookshelves. Seems like this used to be a library. In front of a large window was a desk. Behind it sat an old man. "Finally, someone heard me. Thank the gods." he said and stood up and walked towards me so I pulled my silver sword. It was certainly the Katakan in his human form. "Quit playing around."

Evelyns pov

I woke up filled with panic. I looked out of the window and saw that it was already past midnight and the room was flooded with light and no candles were needed. Fuck! How did Geralt.. right, Witcher. My swords were right next to me and I quickly grabbed the silver one and wanted to run out of my room so I could help Geralt. The door was locked, which is why I nearly crashed with my face against it. Shit. I kicked it hoping it would break but the castle was full of solidly built doors. I could try sticking my sword through but that would ruin the blade so better not. Maybe Geralt left the key outside the lock. I could at least give it a try.

Where could there be any piece of paper or anything that's thin enough to fit under the door and catch a key? Right! I rushed over to my bag and looked for the invitation I got to the banquet. "Gotcha!" I exclaimed and got one of the matches from the box next to the candles. I shoved the piece of paper under the door at the position where the key would fall if it was still there. I stuck the match into the lock and waited for the voice of a falling key. I sighed as I realized that he took the key with him.

I looked over the window and looked for a way out. That's it! The window! I opened it and a fresh breeze hit me but it didn't really bother me. I looked at how deep I would fall if I slipped. Around 7 meters so if I'd fall, I guess I would get away with a few broken bones so it should be fine. I stepped onto the window sill and went carefully along with it and grabbed onto the wall and the many decoration elements this castle had. I almost slipped but caught myself at one of the planks that hung above a small window. I sighed and my breath was shaky because of the adrenaline I just got. I saw another window and looked through it.

Yes! It was a window to a corridor. I tried to open it but as it seemed this one was only to be opened from the inside. I kicked the window and it shattered. Sorry, mother and father. I made my way through it but hissed when one of the sharp edges cut my arm. I held it tight and as I looked at my arm it was already bloody. Luckily my blouse was already in a dark shade of red otherwise it would be ruined now. I looked at the wound and it wasn't even that deep so it wasn't necessary to bandage it.

I heard nothing which meant that Geralt must be far from my location. I tried to orientate myself but I ended up being lost. Okay, so I went by Geralt's and Jaskiers rooms by what I can tell, so I must now continue walking this corridor and, in case I hear something, follow the noises because the only noises in this castle right now were Geralt and the Katakan.

I tried not to make a noise and it worked. Then I heard a screech. I ran towards the direction it came from and then finally found him. My silver sword out, I was ready to kill the vampire but Geralt just cut his head off and stood in front of it, breathing heavily and covered in the monster's blood just like his blade. He turned around and froze when he saw me and then stomped towards me. "I told you to stay in your room." He said his voice wasn't mad it was something different. I couldn't quite identify it.
