"Alright, ladies, gentlemen, and Pack members! Put your hands together for our new vic! Will they make it to Colter? Probably not! Let's see what they do about all the-"
I heard some static, and, just like on the train, I heard Gage. "Hey, there. Redeye will still think you can hear him, so just frown every now and then. Don't respond to me or you'll look crazy. I'm just gonna help you out."
He did. Before entering a room, he'd give me a warning, or advice on how to handle the situation. I finally reached the end, and he told me to go to the intercom before clicking the mic off. Redeye's voice filled my ears again, and he gave me the run down on how the fight would go, adding in a gory detail or two about how my death would go. I heard Gage's voice on the intercom, and listened to him. He gave me an insane amount of advice on how to take care of Colter.
After I did so, the crowd disappeared. You were unsure what to do, and stood in the arena stupidly for a solid five minutes before the other door opened. You saw a guy walk out and you assumed it to be Gage. He smiled, and nudged the toe of his armor to Colter's corpse, shifting him, "Damn, boss. Took care of him, didn't ya."
I held out a hand, and he looked to me suspiciously before shaking it. He didn't let go, "You can't be so friendly around here."
I took my hand back nervously, eyeing him, "Why?"
"Have you looked in a mirror? I'm sure all the lovely raiders out there would love to get their gritty little hands on you. I'm Gage."
I chuckled, "Yeah, that's the third time you've told me."
"Right. Well, you're the new boss."
"No."
"What?"
"I don't wanna."
"You don't wanna be the... okay lemme explain something to you-"
He did so and I kind of tuned out until he mentioned getting loads of caps. I smiled, "Well, what about you? Why don't you be in charge."
"Cause I like breathing."
He led me to Fizztop, which would be my base of operations, and I smiled, "So I can tell you what to do, and you'll do it?"
"I'm at your disposal, boss."
"Make me a sandwich."
"What kind?"
"Okay so you're actually gonna go through with that... Look, Gage, I don't want you to be my little maid, alright? There's some stuff I can do on my own. I don't want to end up being lazy."
"Wish Colter was like that."
"Well, you also wanted him dead."
"And now he is."
"Thanks to me."
"Thanks to you."
We stayed quiet for a long time, and he spoke again, "What did you do? Before comin' here, I mean."
I shrugged, "Nothing, really. Just sort of wandered around doing odd jobs and mercenary work. What about you? Were you born into the Raider lifestyle or what?"
"Can't say I was born into it, but I was definitely born for it. Grew up on a settlement."
I rolled my eyes, "Yeah, I can't really describe how I grew up. Wouldn't make sense to anyone any more."
