A few weeks passed. With the tiny help of Zoe, Mona and Saish were able to manage the planet commendably. They still needed to get hold of the time management but they were doing pretty good for the first timers.
"I will just build a bridge, scare them for the time being" Mona was, in her character, The Queen of the Planet of Extinct.
"On it" Saish rushed to put little mammals in line.
A Christmas Island Shrew fell in the water as the bridge broke and he got hurt gravely. Seeing their group mate hurt all the little mammals were going obstreperous. Mona and Saish came onto the planet as soon as they saw their stones shining. But they were already a little late. The Shrews were attacking the houses of other little creatures. They were hurting some and scaring some away. 😟
They didn't expect it would be late; all they did was ask the lecturer's permission and go to the washroom to disappear from Earth and appear here. This difference in time zones. It will one day surely put them in a greater mess.
Mona gathered her strength, and with full power, she let it out, using her full palm. The bridge started forming. Strong and sturdy. Just in case they fell from the sides, she made sure nothing was open on the sides. She also made sure the colour was brown. Glass is always risky and deceiving for animals and birds, as they are not used to it, and it can't be seen clearly, it's almost invisible without colour.
Saish left a strong thunder into the sky, which made a huge sound. Instantly catching the attention of all the wild, out-of-control creatures.
"CALM DOWN", Saish's voice reverberated. "We are figuring things out"
The bridge was built. Mona walked to them and took the wounded Shrew into her hands, "He will be alright", she said in a deep voice that oozed power and can commend trust.
She rushed to Zoe. The strength and comfort in her voice stilled their squabble. Saish followed them.
Zoe was impatiently waiting for them to arrive. She had no idea what was going on; she just wished everything would be fine.
"Zoe! He is hurt. What should we do now?" Mona shouted from afar before reaching their minister.
"Oh god. He is losing a lot of blood. I think you should go to the Heal Stone to heal him. Just a first aid won't work," Zoe mumbled in a single stretch, her brows scrunched with worry.
"What?"...."What stone?"
"Where will we find it?" Saish asked.
"It's in olive green colour. It must be in the same place where you guys got your keystones from," Zoe replied, still panicked.
"Ok"
They held their keystones and visualised the place they had to go and as usual, they were there in less than a second. They started finding the Olive green stone. In the whole dispersed and diversely distributed keystones, they had to find one tiny one.
"I wish it just flies towards us. We are losing a lot of time," Mona whispered in tiny. 🤞
As if they heard her asking them, all the stones moved aside and only the olive green one was in front of them.
Mona's breath hitched, stunned by that. But soon she got out of the cloud, she ran towards it. She took it into her hand and said, "Heal him! Heal him, Please."
Just like that, the stone started releasing glitters of Olive Green's around the minute creature cuddled in her arms. The twinkles slowly got attached to the wounds of the Shrew.
Utter silence. Followed by a small squeal. The little creature was moving. Mona looked at it her eyes filling with overwhelming joy. They almost lost him. She started gently tapping its head, combing its hair.
"Thank you for staying strong, little one"
The creature made some sound and licked her. Implying, thank you for saving me in its way and moved closer to her, seeking warmth.
Saish's hand grazed Mona's shoulder to catch her attention," Looks like all we have to do is ask, and this planet will find a way to make it happen for us."
"Yaa. Every nook and corner of here is instantly ready to help us, always on stand-by at our call," Mona beamed.
Days passed in a blink. Stuffing them with unknown information and mind-blowing truths. They were getting along well with all the residents of the planet. Their teamwork with Zoe made progress, too. Now, they are not being so dependent on Zoe for every little thing. They are making decisions on their own. That too honourable ones.
All the Individuals on the planet exactly knew why they were chosen as saviours for them. They were proud of them. Only if Mona and Saish could see and feel them they wouldn't be so insecure and always be doubting if they are even doing enough.
Their self-doubt does have a reason. They are being called at least 4 times a day. And every single time, they are stuck in a whole situation from which getting out is time-consuming. They had to give lame excuses, and only a few people bought them. Most of the time, they are with their friends and putting them off isn't an undemanding and unchallenging task. Their friends knew them on the back of their palms. Nishan, Jesvi and Sunaira can tell they are being weird just by sniffing the air around these two mighty saviours. 🫡
By the time they misled their friends and came to the planet, it was getting a bit late. Till now it didn't make a big of a problem. But they were sure it would cause a lot of damage if this kept on going. There is always a 50 per cent chance that the Shrew-type incidents may repeat, they can be late, and the damage can already be done. Much worse a death.
And also they had their own life to lead and live. They aren't only Saviours but also students, friends and children.
"This won't do. Let's be practical here. We can't always be coming here to fix every little thing. Last time, we had to come coz an ant, an extinct species of ant was stuck in a tiny pit of water. It took us a minute to figure out what was wrong and who was in danger" Mona debated, putting her thoughts out firmly and clearly. "I am not blaming them for calling us. It's our responsibility, and I know that. But we can be helpless sometimes and may not make it in time. I don't want them to be so dependent on us that they are stopping to use their survival instincts. Survival of the fittest rule applies here too, you know."
"I agree with her" Saish faced Zoe and said these words with credence. "She is stating facts. We are trying our best and it's still not up to the mark. Something needs to be done."
"How did rest all saviours deal with this kind of situation?" Mona asked puzzled.
Zoe thought for a while," I guess no one was that busy with their lives and smart enough to bring the problem to the surface"
Mona looked at her with a done expression, and Zoe just sheepishly smiled.
"Come on. Life wasn't this tight for anyone before you. All they had to do was wake up, get ready, eat, work for a little while and wait for the call from this planet. Even Blue and Green were pretty much the same" Zoe continued.
"Ya ya, we are the pioneers of Gen Z", Mona facepalmed herself sarcastically, caught in this ridiculous puddle.
"Purple. I have an idea b-but I am not sure" Saish hesitated.
"I am sure. You are right. We are following it. And no, I don't want to know what it is, it will just be apt and perfect. I know you" Mona nodded at him, completely serious. She didn't even let him complete the sentence.
The faith. Just a few words made it clear she trusted him with her eyes, ears, and nose closed. That she entrusted him with her everything.
This very line from her melted the last chunk of ice in his heart. He knew she was it, but with every passing second, she made it even more concrete. Adding life to his bland existence. The confidence she has for him is something and everything people crave for.
Saish smiled back, sure she was going to be the death of him someday. Will he regret it? Absolutely not. "Listen to me first."
"Fine" Mona waited for him to explain.
Zoe was watching the scene with a warm, motherly smile. She knew. Even if destiny was a myth, they are each other's destiny. No matter what, they are bound to be together.
Saish took a deep breath before trying to form a sensible sentence for putting forward his proposal. " What if, just an if, we train a few of this planet's animals and give them little power to control the situation and prevent it from getting worse until we arrive?"
Mona frowned, and later, her expression turned from unreadable to surprised to pondering to grimacing to rational thinking face to a slight smile and finally made a halt at confusion. 😅😂
"It's a great idea Saish. But I have little doubt"
"What is it?"
"How will we give them the power? It's not like we can share ours with them. They can't handle our powers" Mona had a strong valid point.
Saish opened his mouth to answer but soon closed it, realising he did not have an answer. He tried it a few times, and his mouth shut every time, even before uttering a syllable.
Zoe interfered "You should go and ask the Constitution of this planet."
"The gigantic book?" Mona asked earning a yes from Zoe.
"It can talk?" 🧐
"Not verbally but mentally. It communicates through images. You must know about it. You found me just like that," Zoe explained.
Mona scratched the nape of her neck. Silence warped the place under its wing. Absurd.
Cricket noises. More cricket noises.
Until Saish decided to break it ultimately, " We will go to it and come back then?"
"Yes, Saish", Zoe answered.
"Let's go Purple. We have a boook to understand," Saish said, obtaining a giggle.
Mona forwarded her hand asking for him to give his. Saish took it as if he was born ready for this moment. He interlocked their fingers. Mona gasped a little at his sudden action before she raised a brow.
Saish grinned down at her.
She hid her blush and a racing heart before following him.
