NICK:
"What's wrong?"

Y/N:
"Nothing." I quickly said.

He nodded slowly as he narrowed his eyes at me then we began walking away from the school to the ice cream shop. We talked about our days, other than the obvious.

When we arrived at the ice cream parlor, I ordered my favorite ice cream flavor and he did the same. I paid for us then we took our seats across from each other in the light blue chairs near the window.

Nick began messing with his ice cream with his spoon.

Y/N:
"What's up?" My eyebrows squished together.

NICK:
"I just...wish I could've paid for us."

Y/N:
"It's okay, don't worry about it." I ate a spoonful of the ice cream and immediately smiled, "Dang that's cold."

He smiled at me then his eyes trailed down to his ice cream again.

NICK:
"So...have you talked to Clay yet?"

I sighed while looking up at him.

Y/N:
"No." I mumbled.

NICK:
"Well, you're gonna have to talk to him tomorrow when we pick you up." He shrugged.

I gazed out the window with a frown.

Y/N:
"Could we just...pretend we're kids eating ice cream for the next hour?"

He sadly smiled with a nod.

NICK:
"Yeah, sorry..."

When I saw his sad smile, it reminded me of the dream.

Y/N:
"Hey um...we're good, right?"

NICK:
"Yeah?" His eyebrows squished together, "Why wouldn't we be?"

Y/N:
"I don't know, I just...had a stupid dream that made me think we weren't."

NICK:
"Really? What happened?" He ate a spoonful of his ice cream.

Y/N:
"Well...I think the dream was prom and, I danced with George, then Clay but then...you came in last but, we didn't dance." My eyebrows squished together, "You just stood there and...sadly smiled at me...like you wanted to say something but you couldn't..."

His eyes widened as his cheeks became red.

Y/N:
"And you know me, I think all dreams have meaning so...I don't know, it just made me think that maybe I don't spend enough time with you as much as the others. And I certainly don't wanna make you feel left out—I wanna make time for all of you, equally and—"

NICK:
"Y/N—" he smiled, interrupting my rant, "You're fine. I promise."

Y/N:
"Really? You don't think I hangout with the others more?"

NICK:
"Well I mean..." he looked at the table, deep in thought, "You and I have our moments, you know and...I cherish those."

He sadly smiled while I returned it.

NICK:
"It doesn't bother me, if—if that's what you're wondering..."

Y/N:
"So I do spend more time with them than you..." I frowned.

NICK:
"I—" he nervously laughed, "I don't know...wait, is that what this is about? We're here because you think we don't hangout as much?"

Y/N:
"Would you hate me if I said yes?" I nervously smiled.

NICK:
"No," he giggled, "I appreciate one on one time with you but, it's not necessary. I know that we all mean a lot to you equally."

Y/N:
"Good." I nodded with a smile, "I still do enjoy hanging out with y'all separately sometimes."
