Fashion Club went well and eventually, I made it home after that, thanks to a ride from Niki.Once I walked through my front door, I looked to my right to see my sister sitting down on the couch, reading a magazine. Her head jerked up when she heard the door open.
NICOLE:
"Hey." She smiled, "How goes it?"Y/N:
"Fine..." I glanced around, "Are Mom and Dad home?"NICOLE:
"Nah. Today's their anniversary, so they're gonna be out all night till like midnight, probably. They just left."Y/N:
"Oh..." I pressed my lips together, being slightly relieved.I quickly ran to my sister and plopped down next to her on the couch, startling her.
Y/N:
"I talked to Clay today—"Her eyes widened.
NICOLE:
"What?? Why?"Y/N:
"Cause I wanted to—" I sighed, "Nicole, I miss them."NICOLE:
"Well do you miss the constant anxiety of having to please them all the time?" Her brows furrowed together.Y/N:
"No but..." I breathed out, "I miss their hugs and...I miss when we could talk about our days...I miss seeing them smile and...I miss being the reason why they did..."Nicole sighed as her eyes fell to the floor.
Y/N:
"I want to see them tonight."Her eyes widened more.
NICOLE:
"Y/N, it's only been a week without seeing them, and you're already folding."Y/N:
"I know, but—"NICOLE:
"Y/N—" She interrupted me, "I don't think you should go out tonight. If Mom and Dad come back early and know I let you leave, I'm going to get in big trouble."My eyebrows squished together at her.
Y/N:
"And they say I'm the one having an identity crisis." I rolled my eyes, making her confused.NICOLE:
"What?"Y/N:
"You used to be the cool sister who was a badass and now, you're little miss goody two shoes." I cringed, "Seems like you changed too."She clenched her jaw while slightly glaring at me.
NICOLE:
"I changed because I had to Y/N...I didn't like causing my parents pain and trust me, I've been doing that for a long time..."My shoulders fell as I stared hard at her.
NICOLE:
"I don't know if you've noticed lately, but you guys are my only friends." She raised her eyebrows, "And I want to keep being friends instead of how things used to be. I used to ignore them, I didn't give them a second glance...and that hurt them and me..."I clenched my jaw.
NICOLE:
"You're not going out tonight. I'm sorry."My eyes fell to the floor as I shook my head.
NICOLE:
"You shouldn't have even talked to Clay today..." She picked up her magazine and began to read it again. My eyes narrowed at her as I swallowed hard.
Y/N:
"No...I shouldn't have talked to you, today..."Her eyes lifted off the page for a moment, then I got up and jogged upstairs to get away from her.
