-GEORGE's POV-
After telling Y/N some good memories that happened this year, that didn't involve any romantic things, I told her about the car accident her and her family got in today. She was worried, but I assured her that they were okay, and they'd be okay.

The doctor also visited her and checked her out. He explained that her and her family could leave the hospital in a few days. So, I vowed to keep her company until then.

•••••

Over the past 3 days, I did my best to put on a smile, I tried my best to always be happy around her, but on the inside, I felt so depressed.

Obviously, I was still glad that she liked me, and I was glad she liked me first both times, but I was still terrified for what the future would hold for the 5 of us.

•••••

Once the third day came, Y/N and her family were released from the hospital. My dad ended up giving them rides home, while Clay's mother gave me and Nick rides home. Except, she knew that we wanted to be there for our friend. So, she drove us to her house.

While in the car with my friends, I couldn't stop staring at Clay. He never visited Y/N once after the time he ran out. He's just had the same broken expression for the past few days, it made my heart hurt seeing him like that.

Once Clay's mum made it to her house, we all hopped out of the car. Clay instantly took off for inside, making me exchange a nervous glance with Nick. We both hurried to comfort our friend.

We followed Clay upstairs.

When we all made it up there, I shut the door, then we sat in a triangle formation, in the same exact spots we were on the first day of 11th grade, when we found out we all liked the same girl.

We sat in silence for a few moments, before I spoke up.

GEORGE:
"Do we go back to the pact...?" I asked quietly while staring at Clay.

He clenched his jaw while leaning back against the bottom of his bed.

CLAY:
"No..." He said lowly while staring hard at the carpet.

NICK:
"What do we do then...?"

CLAY:
"You two can do what you want..."

GEORGE:
"What about you...?"

He shook his head while flaring his nostrils.

CLAY:
"There is no me and Y/N anymore..." He spoke quietly as slight tears began forming in the corners of his eyes, "She doesn't remember falling in love with me...all we have left is this summer before we all go our separate ways, so..."

Clay bit the inside of his cheek as he frowned, his expression looking like a heartbroken puppy.

CLAY:
"No pact...no anything...her and I are over before we even began..." He whispered while shedding the tears.

I couldn't help but form some tears in my eyes too, same with Nick. I felt so bad for my friend.

NICK:
"Clay...I'm sorry..."

His gaze stayed still, looking down at his lap, without saying a word.

GEORGE:
"I won't do anything..."

NICK:
"Me either..."

He huffed out a painful smile while looking back up at us.

CLAY:
"You might as well...she's still in love with you two, hell, she probably picked one of you in the first place..."
