A BLIZZARD WAS what Number Five and Lila was brought into after a torturous briefcase journey. While Lila slouched and hugged herself to keep herself from getting a frostbite, Number Five thought the briefcase sent them in another timeline. Which, in his perspective, was not a great sign at all.
He put the blame on Lila in an instant. "Oh, brilliant idea, Lila. Welcome to the Ice Age!" He yelled through the howling wind.
Lila also felt puzzled after seeing the winter wonderland, until she took a look around. As soon as she found out that they were in the right place, she felt victorious. "Shut up and just look." She pointed out, nodding her head over to the good old Commission building.
Through the foggy and snowy wind, Five had spotted the Commission. Though, from the looks of it, something was clearly unusual.
"The Commission." It looked like an old abandoned infrastructure that was no longer maintained. The boy wondered if there was even anyone inside. "Shit." Though, as much as this was concerning, he couldn't help but follow the laughing Lila as she jogged her way through the snowy path to the Commission.
Lila's laugh eventually trailed off as soon as they entered the Commission. "Holy shit." One thing was for certain, the place had been indeed abandoned for a long time.
Just as they entered, the frosted glass on the doors were shattered to pieces; there was debris on every spot they looked at; and all the ceiling lights have been hanging by a cord.
"I was just here. How long was I bloody gone?" Lila wondered. The last time she was here, all employees were bustling through the very spot they were standing on. Now, the only people who existed here were her and Five.
"It seems the Grandfather Paradox is affecting everything." Number Five replied, putting the briefcase down to give his wrist a massage. "Even places out of time." He added.
"Is that possible?" Asked Lila. It couldn't be possible. The Commission is the one handling time undercover. How could it be possible?
Five let out a sigh in response. "I stopped track what possible a long time ago." He admitted. The boy had essentially stopped leaving himself in a quandary in terms of that when he thought he was already retired. Once his wrist was relieved of the slight strain, he picked the briefcase up again and started to make the first step only to have a chunk of the ceiling almost fall out on them.
Luckily, they were fast enough to step out of its way to the ground. "We better get moving." Five didn't really plan on staying inside this piece of concrete called the Commission at all. "I'll check the Infinite Switchboard."
"And I'll check Herb's office. Little cockroach would survive anything." Lila informed as she watched him making his way tot he staircase. Out of pure randomness, she bid him farewell. "Bye."
Number Five just went along with it. "See ya."
"Miss you."
"That's weird."
