THERE KLAUS SAT on the passenger seat with Sir Reginald Hargreeves driving the car to a middle of nowhere. After being held inside the car's trunk while he was dead for who knows how long, he was beginning to reconsider approaching the old man to ask for his help. But, as much as he wanted to back out now, he was already there with him. Knowing Sir Reginald, he would shove persistence down his throat until he's unlocked his full potential.
There was no turning back from this bitter old man now.
"So tell me. What do we like to do together?" Suddenly, Hargreeves asked him a question that made irony a whole understatement. "For fun." Especially when he elaborated what he meant.
Bewilderment washed over Klaus immensely. "I don't understand the question." He replied as he looked at his old father, stunned.
"Didn't we take any family trips in your timeline?" Reginald questioned. It was unbelievable for Klaus to hear this coming from him.
The elaboration made him scoff, "With our Dad? Hell no. That guy out the 'dick' in dictator." He said as he shook his head as memories with him were anything but fun. "No, no. It was all about the missions wih him." He explained, "Just mission after mission..."
"Well then, how is it you don't understand the first thing about your powers? Did you learn nothing at the Academy?" Asked Reginald. It was clear that he might have missed something here, seeing as the term fun was never a part of his other version's dictionary. It was quite difficult to accept that the man next to him only had so little knowledge about his powers.
"Well, things kinda went sideways early on." Klaus shrugged.
"How so?"
Where do I even begin? There was so much the old man had done to them. It scarred them for life, to be frank. "Five got lost in time." Eventually, Klaus decided to start from the very beginning, where it all started turning sideways, "Just... gone. When Y/N failed to stop him, she went and trapped herself in her mental stonewall. Ben died during the Jennifer incident."
Now, the Jennifer incident, Reggie was aware of. He didn't realize they'd encountered that accident in their timeline as well. "Tragic." He commented.
"Oh, tragic? I'm not finished." Klaus continued, "You drugged your daughter. For years. You turned Luther into a half-monkey moonboy freak thing. You locked me in a box full of ghosts. And then you killed yourself so that none of us could get any answers."
"I see."
Every thing he enumerated for his former father slowly built up a slight irritation towards him again. He couldn't help but finish his whole speech with the truest statement he could ever think of.
"What I'm saying is, you were a terrible father."
Reginald could only nod in agreement. "Yes. Picked that up. Thank you." He affirmed it very clearly. Klaus didn't need to dig deeper for him to realize that.
"Good." Klaus replied with a relieved sigh. It was refreshing to dump his anger out without any remorse or fear towards his father, mainly because he was absolutely different from the other Reginald Hargreeves.
