Chapter 60 ? Loved

I scoffed while shaking my head.

GEORGE:
"You're an idiot."

CLAY:
"I'm the idiot? Okay..." He rolled his tongue over his cheek while glaring at the road.

GEORGE:
"You're just mad she didn't kiss you instead..." I mumbled under my breath.

Clay suddenly hit the breaks, making me gasp and move forward a little.

GEORGE:
"What the hell??"

CLAY:
"Get out." He glared at me.

GEORGE:
"What?" My eyebrows squished together.

CLAY:
"Get...out..." He snapped while giving me a death stare.

GEORGE:
"Are you serious?" I frowned.

He kept his serious gaze, making me clench my jaw and swallow hard at him.

GEORGE:
"She didn't choose me...but one day she could. You need to realize that, Clay..." I spoke lowly at him.

Clay's nostrils flared as he narrowed his eyes at me.

GEORGE:
"Thanks for the 2 minute ride..." I grabbed my backpack and swung it over my shoulder then pushed the door handle.

I exited the car then slammed the door. Clay instantly took off, making me cross my arms and frown while clenching my jaw at him turning the corner and leaving.

I swallowed hard while feeling pressure on my chest. Then I began the long walk home with my head full of thoughts.

-NICK's POV-
The rest of the day went by quickly since we got more busier at work. But the whole time, I was on autopilot. I couldn't stop thinking about Y/N. I kept repeating the same questions in my head.

"Why'd she kiss George? Does she like him now? Are they gonna start dating? Have they kissed other times before this?"

The whole day I felt anxious and scared of the future, of my future and my friendship with George and Clay. Along with my friendship with Y/N.

AUDREY:
"Nick?" She broke me out of my daze.

I shot my head up from the register to see Audrey flipping the open sign to closed.

AUDREY:
"Are you sure you're okay?" She walked to me and held my hand against the counter, making me swallow hard at it.

NICK:
"Yeah just...long day..." I breathed out.

AUDREY:
"I agree. But I'm glad I had you to help me." She smiled with a blush.

I nodded.

NICK:
"I should get going..."

AUDREY:
"I can give you a ride if you want."

NICK:
"It's okay...walks are relaxing to me sometimes..."

AUDREY:
"Oh okay. Well, text me if you need anything." She softly smiled.

I nodded again then clocked out, grabbed my belongings and left the ice cream shop. When I pushed open the glass door, I noticed a light rain begin, making me pull my black hood over my head.

I walked with my hands in my pocket down the dreary road, all with a heavy heart and even heavier thoughts about Y/N.

-CLAY's POV-
I was driving for the rest of the day. When it was dark outside, it began to light rain, matching my mood for this shitty day.

I thought about what George said but I still couldn't believe him. Even if I did, it wouldn't change anything. Y/N still kissed George, and her and I are still not where I wanna be.
