Chapter 75 ? Don't

My lips curled up immediately as I grabbed it and examined it. Nick set his bag down next to his bed, not paying attention.

Once his head shot up, I wrapped the bracelet over his right wrist and it made him smile instantly with a blush.

Y/N:
"That's better."

NICK:
"I agree."

The two of us couldn't erase the smiles from our faces. We also couldn't help but stare at each other contently.

The both of us knew the truth finally that we were in love with each other. Honestly, I was glad that Nick was the first to know. I could always talk to him about anything, he made it so easy to.

Suddenly, we heard a glass bottle break, making us gasp and jump as our gazes shot to the door.

NICK:
"L—Let's go—" He took my hand and directed us to the window.

He let go of my hand to pull up the blinds. After they were locked in, he pulled up the latch to open the window, but it wouldn't open.

NICK:
"Oh c'mon..." He mumbled nervously and kept trying but it was stuck.

After a few moments, we heard footsteps coming closer to us. Nick and I looked over our shoulders with widened eyes. His father shortly came into the room with another bottle of alcohol in his hand.

The two of us gulped nervously at him, waiting for his next move.

N DAD:
"What's taking you two so long?"

NICK:
"U—Um...we can't find the homework..." He lied while stepping in front of me.

N DAD:
"Might as well forget it and head back to school. Don't wanna be a dropout do ya?" He spoke to Nick.

Nick nodded slowly. Soon, his father's eyes narrowed at him while looking him up and down.

N DAD:
"You look more like your mother everyday..." He glared.

Nick swallowed hard while looking away from him.

Y/N:
"I—I think he looks like you more..." I nervously smiled.

His father tilted his head while squinting at Nick, trying to see the resemblance.

N DAD:
"I don't see it. All I see is her..." He spoke lowly while gripping the bottle.

I gulped while staring at it.

Y/N:
"W—We should get going Nick...wouldn't wanna miss our classes..." I tried walking to my backpack but Nick's father stepped closer to us.

NICK:
"Y/N run—" He quickly lunged at his father, pushing him into the wall.

I took off past them and ran down the hallway, all while worried out of my mind.

-NICK's POV-
My father suddenly smashed the alcohol bottle against my head, making it break. I fell down with a thud while in pain from my head.

N DAD:
"Who do you think you are coming at me you little shit??" He swung his foot back and hit me in the stomach, making me groan loudly in pain.

Suddenly, Y/N came behind him and smashed another bottle over his head, making him collapse. She quickly bent over me, looking worried.

Y/N:
"Are you okay??" She held my cheeks, staring at my temple, I definitely felt myself bleeding there.

Quickly, my father stood up and tried coming at us. My eyes widened as I pushed Y/N forward, away from him. She hit the side of the wall as he hit me. He punched my face over and over, without stopping, taking out all his drunk anger out on me.

-Y/N's POV-
Seeing the graphic violence in front of me, my eyes widened as my breathing picked up in fear. I quickly went over to my backpack and zipped open the pocket. I grasped my protection and stuck it on his father's neck, tasing him until he collapsed for good.

After a few moments, he fell to the floor next to Nick and fell unconscious. I immediately set the taser down next to me on the floor and held Nick's cheeks.

-NICK's POV-
My ears were ringing and my vision was blurry. I could make out someone calling my name in distressed voice and a blurry figure in front of me. I blinked several times and saw them grab their phone. Soon, they held the phone up to their ear and there was more talking.

That's when everything faded to black, letting me slip into an unconsciousness.

When I woke up, I was in my room on my bed, surrounded by many. The first person I saw was a man in a medical uniform. He was writing something down on a clipboard.

Then my eyes trailed over to my crush speaking to a taller woman in a pantsuit. I blinked more times and tried to listen to what they were saying.

WOMAN:
"We'll give her a call and go from there." She nodded while taking out her phone.

Y/N nodded nervously while holding herself then her eyes fell to me, making them widen.

Y/N:
"Nick—" She raised her voice and ran to me.

NICK:
"Hey...what happened?" I asked in a raspy voice.

She bent down and held my hand.

Y/N:
"Your dad happened." She frowned.

My eyes widened then I looked at the last place where we were but he was nowhere to be seen.

NICK:
"Wh—Where is he...?"

Y/N:
"Nick..." She started, "I had to do it..."

My eyebrows squished together as anxiety filled me.

NICK:
"D—Do what...?"

She gulped nervously while looking away from me.

Y/N:
"I called the cops and...they arrested him..."

My heart dropped.

Y/N:
"They're gonna call your mom to see if you can live with her..." She looked at me nervously with a frown.

I shut my eyes while leaning my head back.

Y/N:
"N—Nick I'm sorry, it wasn't safe—"

NICK:
"Don't..." I shook my head while keeping my eyes closed, "Don't..."

Y/N frowned in guilt while staring at me. After a few moments of silence, she leaned her head down against my bed, against our hands.

And so, with many officials in my room, chattering up a storm, the two of us fell silent with heavy hearts and intertwined fingers.
