Chapter 133 ? Noises

Start from the beginning

Suddenly, all the lights shot back on and standing across from me was George, next to the light switch.

NICK:
"Y/N??"

Y/N:
"George—" I ran to him and hugged him tightly, "You scared the shit out of me—where did you go??"

GEORGE:
"To turn the lights back on. Nothing seemed wrong with the box." He shrugged.

Y/N:
"So who shut off the lights?? They don't shut off automatically, do they??"

He shrugged again.

Y/N:
"George I don't like this..." I shook my head while holding myself, looking around.

NICK:
"Y/N?" He spoke from over the phone.

Y/N:
"I gotta go." I said, then hung up the phone to call the police.

GEORGE:
"What're you doing?" His brows furrowed together.

Y/N:
"I'm not gonna slip this under the rug...those lights didn't shut off by themselves and those thuds weren't nothing..." I shook my head, then held the phone up to my ear.

George sighed nervously while glancing around.

•••••

The police showed up only after a few minutes, since they were just around the corner. I told them everything that happened. With the thuds, with the lights and they inspected both houses.

One of the officers came back and stood next to the other one while staring at us in George's driveway, minutes later.

OFFICER:
"There was nothing wrong with the light panel. Which means someone shut it off."

Hearing his words did not bring me comfort.

OFFICER:
"Probably some kids in the neighborhood messing around." He raised his eyebrows.

Y/N:
"Probably?" I tilted my head as my eyebrows squished together.

OFFICER:
"Yeah, you'd be surprised about how many calls we get, but it ends up being kids just messing around."

I sighed while crossing my arms.

It didn't feel like kids messing around. It felt like something else.

OFFICER:
"If anything else happens, let us know."

GEORGE:
"Thank you." He nodded.

Soon, the policemen left in their car, leaving George and I alone in his driveway. I shook my head at the road.

Y/N:
"They're so useless." I scoffed, then turned around to face George, "I don't feel like it was kids messing around."

GEORGE:
"What do you think it was then?"

Y/N:
"I don't know...but it wasn't anything good..." I mumbled.

After a few moments of silence, Clay's car pulled up into his driveway next door. Instantly, him and Nick got out of the car, jogging to us.

Clay instantly hugged me while looking worried.

CLAY:
"Hey—you guys alright?"

Y/N:
"Not really...." I raised my eyebrows, "Those cops were idiots."

CLAY:
"Cops??"

Y/N:
"Yeah, I called them because both of y'all's lights went out, and I kept hearing thuds but, they told us that they think it was some kids messing around, but it doesn't feel like it..." I messed with my fingers.

CLAY:
"We'll be here with you tonight, just in case." He wrapped his arm around me protectively, making me slightly relax as I nodded.

GEORGE:
"Let me grab my homework real quick, and I'll meet you guys over there."
