Chapter 154 ? Lucid

Start from the beginning

Y/N and I said goodnight to our kids, then Y/N shut the door. Once it was just us in the hallway, she held my hands in hers while smiling at me.

A realization occurred to me as my smile faded.

GEORGE:
"Y/N...?"

Y/N:
"Yeah?"

GEORGE:
"Where's Clay and Nick...?"

Y/N:
"Oh, they're gone." She smiled, unfazed.

GEORGE:
"W—What do you mean...?" I asked nervously.

Y/N:
"Well I chose you, George. You really think we all stayed friends?" She chuckled.

GEORGE:
"W—We didn't...??" I frowned instantly.

Y/N:
"No." She shook her head, "But that doesn't matter, all that matters is us."

She leaned in to kiss me, but I backed away, letting go of her hands. Y/N's eyebrows squished together.

Y/N:
"Why'd you back away?"

GEORGE:
"Because, it does matter. I—" I sighed while looking around at everything, "I don't want all of this if it means I lose them in the process..."

She scoffed.

Y/N:
"You'd give up our future just like that? All because of some dumb boys?"

I stepped closer to her as my expression fell.

GEORGE:
"They're not some dumb boys, they're my best friends. And I sure as hell can live without you, but I can't live without them..." I clenched my jaw.

Y/N narrowed her eyes at me while crossing her arms.

Y/N:
"And what's Clay going to do when he finds out that it's your fault his father is dead?" She raised an eyebrow.

I inhaled sharply as my eyes widened.

Y/N:
"You think he's going to be happy that you're okay after you killed his father?" She chuckled while shaking her head, "Of course not. He's going to be furious at you. I doubt he's gonna want anything to do with you. Clay wants you gone, George."

I clenched my jaw as I swallowed hard.

Y/N:
"If you stay here with me," She batted her eyelashes and sweetly smiled at me with a cold statement, "You can be with me. This can be our future, our life together...but if you go back...well...I probably won't choose you. Why would I...?"

My eyes fell to the ground, slightly believing her.

Y/N:
"Clay and Nick are certainly better than you." She chuckled, "Clay's stronger, braver. Nick's hotter and sweeter. Even Wilbur is better than you. I ate his tragic backstory right up, all while you watched pathetically."

She shook her head while laughing, my frown deepened.

Y/N:
"Wake up and be disappointed...or stay here with me and have the life you've wanted since the 9th grade...the choice is yours..." She stepped behind me and stayed there to whisper in my ear, "But if you go back, George...I can assure you...it'll bring more bad than good..."

I clenched my jaw as I gulped nervously while staring hard at the ground. Y/N soon walked away, leaving me alone in the empty hallway.

My eyes slowly made their way to the right. For some reason, the walls of our kids' bedroom had windows on them. So, I opened the curtain and took a look inside their shared room.

Inside, our twins were sleeping peacefully with smiles on their faces. I couldn't help but sadly smile at them.

Of course I wanted this future with Y/N, I would jump to the chase of it in a heartbeat. But, none of this would be worth it if Clay and Nick weren't in my life.
