"Thanks, I aim to get the job done." Y/N replied, taking her scolding as a compliment.

Y/N's response made Peril scoff, "'Get the job done' my ass. I literally saw you slacking off with Winston earlier while I'm here, tending to everyone's orders."

Funny how I don't see you doing that right now. Y/N internally retorted after finding her just standing and nagging, ignoring the customer waiting by the register. She was already aware of her mistakes; she didn't need anyone pointing it out repeatedly and unreasonably. "I literally just arrived an hour before my actual shift earlier." Y/N explained. Alas, Peril wasn't hearing any of it.

"I mean, do you know how unethical that is? Goodness gracious, I don't even understand why you wanted this job in the first place if you're gonna laze around all the time..."

"Or just keep saying what you will, see how that works out for you." Y/N muttered. Not being in the mood to hang on Peril's every word, Y/N reached over the running stereo and raised the volume up to tune Peril out before she steamed the milk.

Later that day, Ben Hargreeves had just gotten out of prison earlier than his supposed release. As soon as he saw an overly elated Luther waiting for him, he immediately regretted calling him to be the one to pick him up. Had he remained to stand there and stared at Luther longer, Ben would've begun to think that calling Klaus was a much better option.

"Hey, buddy! Ah, it's good to see ya!" Luther's embrace made Ben want to crawl back to prison even more. It was evident that Ben wasn't sharing the same joy. "How long's it been, huh? About four years?"

"Minus six months for good behavior." Ben replied.

Luther's smile remained plastered on his face as he nodded in understanding, "Well, you better keep that up now that we're roommates." He grinned, thinking that all of Ben's hostility had finally faded.

Unfortunately, Ben's next response had proven him wrong, "The only reason I called you is because I need a fixed address for my probation," and he responded with spite, "and the feds seized my apartment downtown." He finished.

But his unwelcoming attitude didn't falter Luther at all. "Well, whatever the reason, the universe brought us together," he quipped, "and I think that's fun." He looked more delighted than Ben liked, to be frank. With that, he gave Ben a firm light pat on his arm one last time and gestured for him to get in the car as he pulled out his keys.

"Come on, let's go."

And so, after struggling to start the engine, Luther drove them away with an unanswerable eagerness Ben could never understand. They were just going home after all. I don't understand why he needs to be all perky about it, Ben thought.

Except Luther never told him such.

The next thing Ben knew, they stopped at another open parking spot with a building right across them.

It was clear that Luther took them somewhere else instead of his home. "Where the hell are we?" Ben bellowed at Luther. With his bitterness evidently showing, he wasn't sure if Luther would ever be able to take the hint.

He got his answer when his self-proclaimed brother only ignored the tone of his voice, "Come on. I got a surprise for you." Luther stated as he pulled Ben along with him, who was drowning in reluctance. "It's a, uh... little welcome-home gift."

Suddenly, Luther's car malfunctioned that made them stop on their tracks. There was smoke coming out from every crack. A part of Ben was concerned. But Luther merely made him ignore it as they kept walking.
